Jan Crowds/ Dog Kennel

Hi All! Just wondering what everyone thinks the crowds will be like the begginning of Jan? We are going down the 4th, and will be there on the 5th & 6th.

I am just trying to plan how early to be there. We are kennling 3 dogs on site as well if anyone has any advice for that. I was told to be there at least anhour before the park opens.

We used the kennel for our 2 dogs a couple years ago. It was nice, but I don't know if we would do it again. I would rather just have my dogs stay at home with someone who can watch them.

The kennels are little (or bigger if you have a big dog) blue boxes. The CM cannot take out your animal for any reason, even if you doggie goes to the bathroom in their box. Next door to the kennel there is a little garden where you can take your dog to do their business. You can bring your own food for your dog or they have food there (dry and canned) for them. The CM will ask you how often they need to be fed and will feed them according to your schedule or you can just choose to have them CM leave the food in the kennel all day.

Good to know! We are planning on keeping all 3 small dogs in one large kennel if it's big enough, or else 2 in one large one and 1 in one small one. I'm totally stressed out about it, I wish I could leave them at home. The problem is my parents usually watch our dog, and we usually watch theirs... but we're all going together this time! I figure as long as I take their own beds and toys that they are used to it will help (I'm basically trying to make myself feel better about it!) We've never kenneled them before. But they are used to and love their crates, so hopefully it wont be too bad.

Are dogs allowed to walk in the Downtown Disney area?

Oh yeah! Definitely take their beds and toys. I forgot to mention that. It's just plastic, so there's nothing soft for them to lay on. They should be fine all being together too. If we were ever to take our dogs again (like if my parents come with us) then we would just get one big one and have our 2 dogs share since they're small dogs.

Hm, I think they're allowed in DTD. But maybe not IN the stores? We took our dogs on the trams and the tram from Mickey and Friends let's you out in DTD, so I don't really see why not.

I've seen dogs in DTD. I have 2 doggies, I either leave them at home with a friend (this trip a friend is staying with the kids and dogs) or we kennel them at our usual kennel. Personally I wouldn't kennel them at DL, I don't want them sitting in a crate until I go play with them/walk them to do their "thing", I would much rather kennel them where they are used to being where they will get play time and can be in a cage together rather than in a box. My dogs are both crate trained (the little one still sleeps in her "box" most nights) but I don't like keeping them in there for long periods of time. It's a personal preference of mine.

Be sure to take their food that they are used to, toys and blankets for them and don't forget to walk them and give them breaks.

We will be there the same days as you, only we will be there a few more than you. Watch for my LGMH's!!
