Jan. 22- 29 , 2011 Western Caribean Cruise on the Disney Magic!!!

LYNN:

I don't remember if you are on the facebook page yet so I am IMing you the info now! Come join us! :surfweb:

Been a busy week at work.....If i told you how many hours i have worked this week you would think i was lying...........

Nice to sit down

Sorry I missed your IM earlier Lynn! I replied now though. Let me know if you need anything else.

It would be $600.00. So $300.00 /family. Still on the fence about it though. Not sure my kids are going to want to stay in one place all day :(

I defintely couldn't justify spending that much on a cabana...my kids will spend most of the time in the sand or in the water or even with the kids club.
If one of you do get one, I wouldn't mind just taking a tour to see what I'm missing out on...and then maybe for next cruise I'll splurge!

If they join up maybe you and i could join up.

Sorry i have not posted since you have been on and i see you guys hvae gotten.........VERY WELL ACQUAINTED:rotfl2:

I figured I might as well just jump in! I'm thinking this cruise is going to be a lot more fun than I had originally expected. :woohoo: We're definitely considering a cabana rental, especially if we find another family who'd like to share.

OMG! I got post 1000!!!

Congratulations!!! :cool1:

I definitely feel your pain! ;) Glad you finally got a break...

 The conversation sure has taken a turn since last time I checked the boards, and I am not nearly buzzed enough!! *raises wine glass*

No CLUE what I am doing for FEs or what I am packing. These are all worries for January for a person who has not bought ONE Christmas gift yet! :rolleyes1

Thanks for setting up the FB page!

You are NOT the only one... I have not done the first thing for Christmas! :scared1:

I thought long and hard about that... I would LOVE to get one but my kids will be the same way. I just don't think we would be in there long enough to justify the expense...

G-day! very excited to share in everyones enthusiasm! We will also be cruising on the Jan 22 Western Magic Cruise!

This is my son and my third disney cruise. Each cruise, we seem to convince a few more to travel with us. :dance3: This cruise, my parents, my aunt and her little guy and my friend and his two children wlll also be joining. Already, I can hardly sleep and have been reading any morsel of disney cruise info there is to be found!

We were upgraded from a CAT 12 to a CAT 9 on our first cruise and from a CAT 12 to an 11 on our second. We are still in GTY status for a CAT 11, crossing our fingers.. has anyone received their stateroom assignments yet? :worship:

Looking very forward to meeting everyone on the cruise!! :cheer2:

Hello Tinkerkel :)

I would love to participate in your FE and magnet exchange!!! I will try to send a message directly to you as well, (I am a newbie to these forums and am still trying to navigate through successfully)!

We are crazy excited to board this cruise! Aside of our extended travel family and friends, my cabin will consist of two people. Myself, and my son Aidan, who will be 11 at the time of cruising.

Since i have been obsessed with anything cruise related, this exchange gives me something great to focus on now.. let the hunt for unique magnets and FE trinkets begin!

Thanks for organizing.. .look very forward to meeting everyone!

Hi everyone! Wow, it has taken almost DD's entire nap for me to catch up on the thread! :) It was worth it though!

Big hello to all the new folks that I missed! So glad to have so many excited people onboard!

Congratulations royfam on your pregnancy! I am currently 12 weeks today (by ultrasound...11 weeks from LMP but I'll take the extra week if it means the nausea and morning/all day sickness will go away!!!) and will be 20 weeks on cruise day! :)

So much has happened, mostly being really sick. On top of the pregnancy nausea/sickness I got a really bad cold/flu over 7 weeks ago! I am on my second antibotic (just got another one today) and am doing better but wish I would feel better soon.

After the first 5 weeks I was feeling better and then last week we went to Disney with my parents. I was so grateful to feel much better for the trip, although I still was coughing a bit. Thankfully I didn't feel as tired (I couldn't even walk the grocery store a week before we left!) and even spent half of DD's naps walking the resort. We stayed at Saratoga Springs and really liked it. DD is 2.5 and is at a fun age. She LOVED the characters (but this has been her 4th time to Disney so she was used to it!). What we weren't expecting was for her to be scared of almost everything! Philharmagic scared the %$%&% out of her and she ended up crying for almost the whole thing. "No Donald" she still tells me. Fireworks....OMG wasn't expecting this! I love Wishes. It is my favorite thing in Disney. She has seen it plenty of times and loved it. We get into Magic Kingdom and the castle show is playing with fireworks at the end. She gets upset but I thought it was a fluke. The show runs 4-5 times a day and EVERY time the fireworks went off, no matter where we were, she would get hysterical. But she loves the show....you can't take her away when she sees it, even though I tell her fireworks are coming now. *sigh* So while I searched everywhere for a Pirate toddler girl costume after Halloween, you will not be seeing us for the Pirate show on deck. It is already so late that I was considering not going but figured it would be worth the cranky baby...now cranky, screaming baby.....tramatized by it....I'll skip! My parents stayed with us in a 2 bedroom villa for the first 5 nights and then went to my grandmother's house afterwards, while we spent dinner with my grandmother (who is 97) and went back to Disney. My dad and I got in a HUGE fight the last night at the parks together as he was screaming at some woman who was looking at a shirt in a store and he wanted to move...instead of moving around her, he screamed at her to move. I told him it was rude and he told me to stop treating him like a child. We didn't talk for a day which kind of put a damper on the vacation at the end. I don't know how you all do it traveling with your parents. Every time I try to go on vacation with mine, we end up in an argument. We are all very stubborn and my father has a bad temper (he admits this) so I guess the combination of a problem. DH is so the opposite and we work things out so differently that after 10+ years of not living with them it's hard to spend more than a day or so together. Oh and my dad was wearing the Donald "I flunked anger management course" shirt....after cursing at some woman who was pushing her wheelchair in a crowd and rudely asked my dad to move over. Ugghhh....lesson learned....2 or 3 days is enough family time! Anyway, the only other bad thing that happened was that we left our car seat at the airport...checked it and forgot about it completely until we were 5 minutes from home and DD was napping on me in the van. DH is at the airport now getting it. AND we forgot DD's new "pink" Minnie (Minnie plush with pink dress) that my parents got her one of the first days that didn't leave her side. I put it out to bring on the airplane and DH packed up the rental car. DD made a big deal about trying to go potty on the big girl potty a few times at the end of the trip and I think she brought it into the bathroom as we were all ready. I thought it was in the car, DH thought it was packed....I searched our bags today and it's not there. Called Lost and Found and they haven't found it. So looks like I"ll be calling tomorrow for them to overnight me a pink Minnie doll. But if you're looking to go in November, now is the time to go! Beautiful weather, little lines, great rates, etc! Next year we're hoping to go again....with a 6 month old!

As for the cruise...flights are booked. Cruise is paid for. No Palo/excursions (not sure how DD will do in the Kids Club and too prego to go on excursions). Ideas for FEs but way behind. :) Prego Mickey shirt bought and hoping I have some other shirts that will fit my belly that looks already 6 months prego! Now to decide if we will fly in and stay in Disney for the night before, or go to the port? We have annual passes so was hoping to get in, catch a couple rides at night, wake up and get a shuttle to the port but not sure if we want to rush it.

So tired of this cold weather. I know I can't complain as you Canadians have much colder weather, but it's hard to adjust! Dizzi, if you know of any high level IT positions in FL let me know....I think I can finally convince DH to move out of expensive, cold, miserable NJ!

Oh and I would love to join the Facebook page! What is the name that I can search for? I am obsessed with FB!

One more thing, for those that are potty training their kids, or recently have. I'm not sure if the boat has the automatic flushers on their toilets in the public areas, but bring Post It notes to cover the sensor. DD was showing interest and several times I would run in and put her on the potty (nothing happened....but it was worth the effort, right?!). Every time she jumped off, the toilet flushed and scared her yet again! Some were worse than others. But next time I'm bringing something to block that sensor and let her press the button to flush.

Off to get ready for Thanksgiving this week. Not sure why I offered to host 16 adults and 2 children 4 days after returning from vacation....thankfully I have everything purchased. Now to make 2 turkeys because my oven is too small for a big one...

WELCOME BACK!

I am so glad you decided to go on the trip with your family and even happier that you are feeling better. Dads can be a handful and I can completely sympathize with you on long visits.

My 11 yr old daughter still makes me hold my hand over the sensor when she uses an auto flush toilet. AND SHE IS 11!!! I wish I would have thought of the post its! I am definitely putting some in my purse…lol. Thanks for the tip!

I will IM you the Facebook info right after this post. Will be nice to have you join us! We are up to 23 friends already and I am only inviting people traveling with us. Even my DH and DD are on there and I am sure by tonight my DS will be too.

Chat soon!

Hi Shannon! You need 10 posts to PM me from here (and feel free to post totally random things here to get to 10!), but if you are on Facebook you can send me a message with your e-mail address and I'll send you the list. Will need your e-mail address & cabin # when you know it.

Glad to see you back and glad you are feeling better! Our DD had the same problem with fireworks. She had seen a ton of them at Disney World and loved them. Then 1 summer we started going to a lot of baseball games and they would do fireworks afterwards. She freaked and I ended up in the bathroom with her until they were done... :sad2: She eventually got over it. I think it was the noise more than anything...

November is our favorite time to go to WDW! We love it then, but (no offence) we do try to avoid Jersey Week! ;)

I hate those auto flush things sometimes too. You get a sensitive one and if you move a millimeter after you sit down, off it goes...

Thanksgiving: Girl, you are crazy! And brave! I think you really need a break. Have you considered a cruise?? :lmao:

Hey stranger, glad your back and feeling better. Thanks for the tip on the auto flushers. Will definitely add post its to my list. I think I choose to cruise with my parents cause i can escape them when need be. This will be a long two weeks so hopefully it will go well. I am leery of the fireworks to as loud noises tend to scare DS so will see how Pirate night goes and then will go from there for the following weeks at the park. I am planning to bring ear plugs for him so hopefully that will help if he will wear them. I think he will love the characters but not sure how many rides he will do so am prepared to simply walk around the park with him and follow his lead.

Pardon my ignorance but what is Philharmajic?

A tip for those of you interested:
My 13 yr old DS used to have serious issues with loud noises(even a sneeze) when he was little. What I suggest is getting the over the ears headphones, downloading some songs your child likes on an ipod and letting the music drown out the sounds of the fireworks. This will not work as well with ear buds so if you use the noise reduction over the ear headphones it makes a world of difference.
