DD-14 and I visited the Universal parks earlier this week for the first time since June 2005. After reading some of the negative reports, I must admit I was a tiny bit worried. I am happy to say it was completely unfounded. We had a wonderful trip! Crowds were light, nearly everyone was friendly and helpful, and the parks were in great condition.
I'd nearly forgotten how amazing I find the Mummy and Spiderman. Shrek is the best 3-D show I have ever seen and Dueling Dragons is still my favorite coaster.
Slightly on the negative side: The finger scanners did seem to be slowing down the entrance lines quite a bit. Hopefully this will improve with time. (Plus no useless bag checks speeds things back up
) The photographers and timeshare people were pretty aggressive (possibly because the parks were so empty and they had few "victims"
) We just politely declined and kept walking, just like the mall.
And we did see cats in the parks
in the queue area for Twister. I applaud Universal (and Disney, since I understand they have been spotted there as well) fo their enviromentally friendly pest-control program.
