Jan 2010 Code Watch

OK, it's official - we're going to CBR January 30-February 6. Now I have to join all of you who are waiting for a better discount... popcorn::

Count me in for watching for January codes. I need one specifically for the night January 16 and I am hoping to get AKL, CSR or an All-Star resort for a great rate because I'm checking into the AKV on the 17th so I'd like to be as close as possible :)

I only wish I knew now :(

We are on the lookout for a great code too!! We are staying at ASMu in a family suite Jan 2-12!! Come on free dining or the 4/3 deal!!

Yeah, it says Thursday is part of Marathon weekend. But, what I don't get, I'm already there, and not for marathon weekend! I don't see why I need to pay more to be there for Marathon weekend, or at least marathon thursday, sort of like anyone still there on that night is 'punished' or stuck with paying the price for a special weekend event they aren't even apart of. The prices on marathon weekend friday and saturday are the same as the other weekend prices, not special marathon prices. And, it's not an event available in the parks for all guests to choose to do or not. Do they do that for things like Star Wars Weekend or Super Soap Weekend or F & W or the flower one(name?)? They never have while I've been there at least. At least those things are events any guest could take part in if they just happen to be there, but with the marathon, you need to be ready to do that specifically, you don't just go run on a whim, but you still have to pay a bit extra to be there then and I guess that's what I resent. If that extra fee was charged only to registered marathon guests there on that Thurs, that might make more sense. And, if they do run, say a 4/3 sort of deal, will that be allowed to be used on a trip that say, goes from Jan 2 - 10? Hopefully so!!! Gosh, I hope it's not crazy busy late that week and weekend! :scared1: Okay, sorry for the rant, lol, it's just the priniciple of the thing. :goodvibes

It is interesting that they finally started charging more, but it makes sense. Since they started charging more for weekends when the hotels are more in demand, they are more in demand that weekend. It's a high hotel booking time, but unlike the holidays or school breaks, it won't translate to high park visits. Many people go down just for the race, and don't spend the time at the park. Running a half is tough on the body, not to mention doing a full, never mind going to the parks for the rest of the day. You will see plenty of people limping around after the full marathon, but just to go get dinner or shop. It may be tough for the non runners, but the parks are still considered value season, even though the hotels are closer to high season, so I imagine they decided they might as well compensate.

I must be the exception to this (well me and tons of other marathoners I saw Sunday). I was out late Sat. night and back in the parks just after my shower Sunday (my 1st full marathon too). It's funny, on the bus Sunday night going back to the resort I was standing (no seats left) and some family was standing in front of me. I had my medal around my neck so they could tell I did the race. The dad starts talking about how no runners would be in the parks Sunday or Monday since we'd all be to sore. LOL, I was standing right there trying so hard not to laugh. Sure many are sore and may opt to stay at the hotel but I was right there I swear he was looking at me while he said it. :rotfl2:

Anyway, back to the topic - Bring on the 4/3 deal!!! :woohoo:

Hi everyone. We are presently planning to stay at WL(club level) from January2-6. This is also the week of my birthday, so I am hoping a little luck will come my way(and everyone elses!) by way of a pin code or room discount. Fingers are crossed with everyone!:thumbsup2

If i can figure out how I Will post the thread that I was on when 4/3 deal came out last year. Waiting for deals, rehabs, closures, and magic hours so that I can plan what days I will eat where.

we are going january 24-30, staying at BLT in a 2 brm villa. Just got aaa discount applied - dropped the rate $150/nt. Pretty happy about that. Will debate changing to a package once the codes are released. Hoping for free dining..........

Oh I hope it is good! I sure enjoyed that $200 gift card last year:cool1: But dining would be better!

I got this email today...I think it may be a good sign for 2010 deals to come:goodvibes

I'm very tempted to price this one out but dh is out of vacation time for 2009...we'll see! I would still rather go in Jan but I really wish I knew what the final cost would be and if I would make out better going earlier!!!!

Two Questions..
1.) What is the AAA discount, and can it be applied to values? (I am a member) and..
2.) When would you recommend booking POP for January 2010? We can't book right now, but i am SOO worried it will fill up. So i guess my real question is.. When do you all expect POP to fill up? (I know you aren't psychics, just looking for any infomation or speculation you may have)

Thanks!!

I can't help with your second question, but you can go on the AAA website and look up the hotels to see what the rate would be with the AAA discount (if discounts are available at that hotel for your travel dates). Just remember they all start with "Disney's ..." so after searching for hotels sort alphabetically and click on the "D".

Last Friday, the 7th, I booked a five-night stay at POFQ using the AAA discount. We're going over Marathon Weekend in January so I was pleasantly surprised to get French Quarter - it's such a small Moderate that it can fill up quite fast.

When using the AAA discount in the past it was good to get 15%; 10% was not uncommon. The rack rate for a standard view was $872.00; we booked for $697.55. That's a nice 20% off. And, of course, if codes do come out for January, we'll rebook but 20% isn't too bad.

And although we booked a Moderate, I'm sure that Values would get the same discount. At least I hope so. If it was up to me I would book ASAP. Good luck.

We went from $365 a night for the Poly 1/22-1/24 to $310 with AAA. That's about 15% for us, but it was definitely worth it.
(And yes, I would normally refuse to spend $310 for ONE night anywhere, but it's Disney!)

I've booked the Poly from Jan 8-15 with the basic dining and the marathon package. I called CAA to see the difference in their rates (and we usually book with CAA, we only did marathon this time because we could book it earlier) and the price they quoted me was about $400 more! That really surprised me. I'm confused as well because those prices are always better.
Anyways, definately hoping for some sort of a code to come out! The CM that I booked the trip with said he's expecting it to be free dining and to watch about 100 days out.

I'm new to this thread and finally coming put of lurkdom. We are taking our family's first trip (my 1st was 20+ years ago) and staying January 31 - Feb 10 at ASM.

I got another pin code and can't wait for 1 that I will be able to use. Anything from 30% off or free dining would be great so we could upgrade to a villa.

we are staying at POP Jan 18-28....with AAA discount our room rates are:
18-21=$73.80/ night 22-23=$82.80/night 24-28=$73.80/night.

if you make a room only reservation, you only need to pay 1 nights deposit. You can always change to a package later...or if a better discount than AAA comes out change to it later.

Hope this helps:goodvibes

Jumping in here to keep an eye on January deals. My daughter has decided she would love a little trip to Disney for her birthday, just the 2 of us. If I can get a good deal, we'll go for it!
