Jan 2010 Code Watch

So nothing new this morning.

Does the systemget updated usually around midnight) if it does im totally staying up...too excited to sleep! Lol!

LOL.. I did that a few weeks ago in Aug when we were all waiting for a deal to be announced based on info in a podcast. It was my chemo night and I am always wired because of the steroids. I think I made it til 2 am or so. :upsidedow Hope something happens soon. I have a super great deal at the Poly but am always looking for a way to save more. :goodvibes

When is this deal supposed to be released?? Monday to Visa holders and then Tues for everyone??

Wonder if they will do the $200 gift card....

I have a AAA discount on a club level room at AKL right now for 1/20 to 1/27. If the AP discount is the same as last year this 7 for 4 deal would be about $40 more but I would have over $450 worth of tickets for the future. The gift card would make it better.

ETA....I forgot that I would only have to purchase 4 day tickets so it is only about $20 more than last years AP rate-using the $96 off rack from last year.

Please help a fellow Dis'er out. I just bought an AP. If a 4/3 deal comes out it would mean I would need to purchase tickets for everyone in my traveling party including myself?

I know that Disney usually offers an AP discount for January..would I be better off taking that?

I realize that even if I bought a ticket I could "save" it for next year but I would be kicking myself for buying an AP when it didn't save me money in the "short" term.

It depends where you want to stay. Are you planning on going for exactly 7 nights?

Last January the AP discount on Deluxe resorts was $96. The AP discount for value season in November of this year is $101.

If you stay in a more expensive room at a deluxe resort the savings of a 43% room discount exceeds the flat AP rate.

I will book 4/3 when it comes out but I will continue to keep on eye out for AP or room only discounts because they may beat this 4/3 if I don't need to purchase tickets.

Can't wait to hear if the deal for Jan is going to happen!

I'll be checking all day tomorrow and the day after and the day after that!

Hi, Lalas3girls here. I'm a first time user here at Dis so I can use all the help I can get on how this thing works. My Family (husband , daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids) are planning our trip for Christmas 2010. I'm clueless when it comes to this discount thing. I've seen mentioned AP discounts and 7/4 but don't have a clue as to what they mean. Can someone explain how it works. Thanks!

Am I the only goof ball that is going to stay up until midnight to see if this happens??????:woohoo:

I dunno... I would have to call if I want a code added to a reservation wouldn't I? I booked on the phone. If I could change it myself I would stay up, but if not I will just get up early when I would have to call anyway!

That is assuming I could even book starting tomorrow, which is not usually the case with deal announcements, right?

Rosie,

Sometimes I get blasted for suggesting this but it works for us. I booked the 4/3 deal last year in my friends name who was traveling with me because I have an AP. I added myself to the reservation at check in and did not have to buy a ticket.

If there is another adult traveling with your party, that does not have an AP, put the reservation in their name and leave anyone with an AP off the reservation until check in. I'll be doing the same thing again in January if the 4/3 deal actually comes out.

Make sense?

Brian

Hooray-

Just got off the phone with the nicest CM. Got Poly/GV-2 Adults with 8 day Park Hoppers-Jan. 11-18th (MLK Weekend) for $2289. We are thrilled.

I told her I wanted the 4/3 and she said not a problem. She did ask if I had a code and I said no and she booked it anyway.

Thank you DIS forums!

Changed my reservation. We are checking in on January 1, though, so paying full price for room and tickets those first 2 days. We are paying quite a bit more to get sets of 2 day tickets plus the 8 day tickets but of course we got a good deal on the rooms. Also changed from Contemporary to Poly because only CL rooms were available at Contemporary with this deal. We will stick with our tower room those first two nights and then off to Poly. Hopefully it will be warm enough for our son to play in the volcano pool! Also, if we are lucky, we will see baby ducklings swimming in there again in the evenings. Adorable.

I just got 4/3 applied to my January 2010 reservation. I had two rooms booked at CSR. I didn't need a code.

For those of you hoping to get into CSR, I ended up switching to a 2BR Villa at SSR (hope it was the right decision...we're traveling with 8, me, DS, DMIL, DFIL, and our 4 DD). The kitchen and the laundry were big selling points for this decision.

If you're keeping score, the cost for 7 nights, 8 day parkhoppers, and DDP (basic) was $6,775. That worked out to a savings of almost $1700 from the standard cost (and I'm still paying less than I was intending to pay for the two rooms at CSR). That's about as good as free dining would have been.
