Jan 2009 Code Watch

We are in the same boat. We have 6 nights booked WL, and I cant stay a day longer. I would gladly take the 4/2....hope that can happen

Let me preface this by saying that I sincerely hope that whatever offer comes out is applicable to all those here who are waiting and watching... it is such a great feeling to get a good deal!

That said, I do not want to sound like Debbie Downer, but I think it is important that we keep in mind that discounts are not offered for the sake of giving those with existing reservations a break, but to fill empty beds. Disney is not worried about who is booked for 5 nights or 9 - they are trying to get a slew of folks to commit to coming for a week. Really, if you look at the numbers, 4 nights at rack rate plus 3 nights free is not terribly far off the mark of some of the AP rates. They can give you 3 "free" nights, but you are still going to come into their parks and spend money on food and souvenirs at least.
It also serves to dissuade those who are inclined to do , say, 5 nights at Disney and 2 nights at Universal, for example. Keeps the money inside the Disney bubble.

Good luck to everyone at 5 pm!!!

You're right. But some of us are just barely scraping by to get to go on this trip. I had NO idea codes even existed really, until recently and I'd already made my reservation because I thought the earlier the better. Not that it changes the fact that yes, they do want to "fill empty beds", but still....

Hi -- I feel your pain. I am in the same boat as you. We are going on a four night trip January 31. Got amazing air fare, cant change it and also don't want to pull my daughter out of school for more days.

I haven't made a reservation yet but what I think I may do is wait until Saturday when AAA is supposed to increase their discounts on moderates by 5% -- which I think will bring it to 25% -- and then book that. Not 40% off, but in the words of my grandma, beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!

Happy for the rest of you though that are booking longer trips.

Lauren

Pardon me, Feb traveler here.... but I am lurking your board;) Cant help myself lol Been waiting for these codes very impatiently.
My question is... if its a 4/3 deal, what if your dates go into Presidents Day?? I have 8 nights booked, 6 value and 2 peak. Wondering how that would work... would I pay for the 2 peak days adn the rest would fall under the offer??

thanks;)

Actually now that I am here contemplating if this is the deal, I might just add the extra day before and my 2 kids and I go down and my DH and other son meet us down the next day....he has exams that morning he can't miss. Just got more excited and extra day there....wonder what my husband's response will be? :rotfl: If I can follow, "but darling....I just saved us 1200.00, I think he wouldn't mind lol:rotfl2:

That would be great - we would do 4/1 or since we have a 7:00 p.m flight, we could do a late check out and do 4/2. I think the answer will depend if the room nights are tied into the dinning package. If you have to book 7 nights of dinning to get the 4/3, then it won't work for folks like us. Of course, I don't know anything more than you, it's all speculation until 5:00 p.m. Hmm.. let's see could we eat 7 days worth of meals in 4 days????? Ya know what, I think we could!!!!:rotfl:

That would be easy, you could schedule a dinner show, that's 2 credits a person or CRT. Or a Breakfast and Dinner and do a CS Lunch.

Thanks Joshua4 for the kind words. I've been on these boards since Aug practically every day looking for discounted rates, so I have invested quite a bit of time (my kids think I'm nuts):rotfl: but it's been great fun killing time this way. Anyhow, we are still going to Disney, and if this "deal" applies to those stay less than 7 nts, but more then 4, we will still get a small savings, and yes, it beats a poke in the eye. I think my grandma use to say that too:laughing:. Maybe disney will also come out with other codes, and there's always the chance we could get a pin? Right???

Question: If we have 8 nights booked and the promo is 4/3, then I know we have to book the 1st night (Jan 3rd) as a separate ressie. If we have to do a separate park ticket as well, do they add it to our other park tickets or do we have to purchase a single day park ticket? If this is the case, we won't get much of a savings at all.

Forgive my newness to the code watching but.......

Part of our trip will be over MLK weekend. Am I just wasting my time hoping for a discount? Our dates are Tuesday, January 13 through Tuesday, January 20. That weekend in there is MLK weekend. TIA :)

You're never wasting your time hoping for a discount!

Of course, if your time is worth more than the discount, you might be wasting money! :p

I'm not an expert but I don't think you'd have to book that 1 day separately. I think they can just add it in at the end of the package. That way you don't have to pay for a higher 1 day ticket. We are going for 10 days and will just try and fit the first 7 into what ever magical deal is offered. We'll all know soon enough what it is and I wish everyone lots of luck and pixie dust!

I've been lurking on this post for quite awhile now, and I'm thoroughly confused. Here's my deal if anyone can help me figure this out. Our trip is planned as a package through AAA for January 10-19. It's 3 families (7 adults, 2 kids, 1 child under 3) and we have 3 rooms at POFQ. We also have 10 day MYW with park hopper. I called AAA yesterday, and our agent my dad has been working with is out until Monday. I asked the person that answered the phone if we could call in if we knew a code had come out, and then they could apply it. She said they could, but she didn't sound real sure of herself. My dad made the reservations, and I asked her what we're currently paying now. She said she couldn't really tell, and finally gave me a figure around $1900.00. I told her that must be a deposit or something, and could she just tell me what we're paying per night for the rooms at POFQ. She said she couldn't tell that because it's a package?? Does all of this sound right? I just didn't get a good feeling. As far as the code that came out... can we overstay it? What I mean is, can we pay for Jan. 10-13, get the 14,15 &16 for free... and then pay for the 17 & 18th? Sorry I'm really confusing here... but I hope someone can help me figure this out!

Deposit should have been $200 per room.
Disney gives the entire package price to the travel agent...so they don't see the room rate.
you can go to mousesavers and get the price of your tickets and meal plan and deduct in from the overall rate to get an idea of the room rate...but sometimes each is discounted so it would only be a ballpark figure.
AAA will not be able to apply the new code to a aaa package, they would have to remove the AAA and add the new code (no discount stacking)
I'm sure Disney will work with you on the # of days...after all they WANT you to spend your money.

Good luck working with your AAA agent this afternoon!

UURRRGGHHH!! We're booked WL CL January 3rd - 9th. Our reservation on the 3rd is room and DP only because we'll arrive later in the day. To take advantage of the 4 & 3 deal we have to extend our stay until the 11th because the package supposedly starts the 4th. I'm fine with switching out of CL if it isn't part of the deal, although my TA seemed to think it may be. I'd save a little bit of money on airfare coming home on the 11th and not the 9th but I might not actually save anything on the rest of the trip. It would really be just taking advantage of something free and a $200 gift card.

I'm so confused!!

It would be nice to stay those extra days and have a little more time to play and rest! But I don't know!

DH is also nervous about missing the Giants play, if their in the playoffs, that weekend of the 10th and 11th if we're in the air on our way home. I told him we could plan around that to take advantage of the offer. We talked about going to Boardwalk so he could watch the game at ESPN zone and the kids and I could play around there for a little bit.

UGGGHHHHH!!! I wish 5 pm would come!!

I emailed my TA and she said that IF they put out a special she will pull all of her files for those dates (including mine) and check availability. She said that it will be a brand new booking and it has to be within the booking allotment and....she will check 1st thing tomorrow morning :scared1: ! I don't want to wait until tomorrow - I (we) have waited long enough. If it is a "great" deal, should I just book it tonight and then cancel my AAA trip with her tomorrow?
