Hi. I want to ask you a question. My husband wants to go on Jan. to WDW....3 through 8. Are this dates part of the high season? Are the parks going to be very crowded? Should I prepared?

Thank you everyone!!!!

Quite the contrary! Thats is one of the least (if not the least) busy times to go!

These are the exact dates I am going. It is during value season-hoping to get some room codes released soon. The Disney Marathon is that weekend(which is why I am going) From what I have heard it doesnt affect park attendance that much. We will only be going to the parks 1 day. HTH

The only thing you really need tp prepare for is the weather. It can be very nice 70s - 80s to down right cold 30s -40s. Which isn't bad for Jan. if you're from Maine like I am. The parks are not crowded and the marathon doesn't really effect things that much. We always go down in Jan. this year from the 18th - 28th. Maine :firefight

We debated on that week or the following week only because of the marathon. Not that we expected it to be overly crowded, but with going over MLK week, I get to save a vacation day.

So we're going the 15th-22nd.

Wow!!!! thanks everybody....it is nice to know it will be a slow season.
TiffJ...what are the room codes, are those discounts. I´m not from the US can I use them? Thay tell me that in mousesavers I can find discounts.

Thanks
Elisa

We will be there January 11-19 hope to see other DISers there!

You will love going at this time of the year......... we've been the last 3 years in a row, and this will be our 4th......... we love it, very low crowds, value season, nice weather, last year we were able to swim every night, it was in the 80's during the day ..... but it can get cold too!!

As far as room codes, sometimes you can get codes, and yes they are listed on mousesavers when they come out, for discounts on your room. There have not been any codes for next year as far as I know......... but you never know, some may come out........ if you book your room, and a code comes out, you can call and have it applied to your reservation. Just keep watching here or mousesavers.

You won't be disappointed with going during this time of year, have fun!!!

We are going Jan1 thru 8. Can't wait!! Bought the diningg plan, but do you think there may be a free one for that time frame, or is this just wishful thinking?

Nancyg --- we did the MYW package and got the dining plan as well. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm hoping they decide to do the free dining again during our stay............ Hey, we can hope can't we!!!!! :earboy2:

Is the dining plan worth? My husband doesn´t think so. Should I add it to the reservation?

I think it will be worth it for us. My DH seldom vacations (workaholic) but when he does he likes a full meal, every meal. We always spend a fortune on food, so this may alleviate some of the pain. My DH also thought it was expensive, but he's got sticker shock from the cost of the trip, really not thinking about the real cost of eating out ina nice restaurant. For my family, this will be one less thing to think about while on vacation. Even better if it is free!!

Just remember that the Disney Marathon Weekend is Jan 7-8. Traffic has been bad in the past if you are trying to get around in the morning. It doesn't seem to affect the crowd level too much but since they shut down some of the roads around the parks it can take longer to get around.

We'll be there January 9 - 14! We're staying at the Boardwalk Inn - can't wait. Stayed there in February, loved it so much, we have to go back :teeth:

only problem then is you have to walk right on the rides instead of resting in line( hehe)

prepare for cold weather and hot weather ( 30/40-80)

as far as the marathon goes...we didn't have any problemswith traffic and might not have even know the amarathan was going on except they changed emh to ak instead of mk( make sure you check what park after you get there like on SAt night, they did that the night before) and then the runners hit AK almost exactly when emh started so lots of paths inside the park were closed off and some attractions( mostly shows) opened even later than usual. it was really a mess in that park till almost lunch time. i might not go to ak that day( maybe it is due to the actual park set up don't knowsince we had been during marathon to other parks) and definetly would skip emh if it were at ak that day
