It is wonderful your grandparents are still in good heath. However if your grandparents are not use to walking an adverage of 5-6 miles a day I suggest they might want to concider renting an EVC
(Electric scooter) from an offsite company.
They could share it thus giving each of them a chance to get off their feet for a little while.
..........
Have a wonderful time at Disney!

Thanks for the info, minnie! I will certainly mention it to my grandparents. If they are willing to use it, then we will definitely get one!

Come on codes....come on codes.....come on codes......

That is true - the dining plan had to be a package deal...but something I found out was that you can book with Disney and they will apply the AAA rate. AAA never was very helpful when I called. Im sure someone has found them helpful, but I usually let Disney handle it.

I also read somewhere that there are only 100 of each discount code per resort per night. So when they are gone, that is why. Right now I have heard a lot of chatter that AAA is the best rate. If another rate comes out you can apply it to your trip, as long as you arent there yet...Guess who will be there next week! Wahoo!

It's probably best to book at the best rate that you are willing to pay and then hope for an even better code or deal of some kind.

I believe that with the room only, you'd have to cancel and then rebook for whatever package deal comes out. And I believe you can still get a AAA deal on the room with the "dining" but only by purchasing a package through AAA. You can not get it through WDW Travel.

I did it!!! Booked airfare(DING) for Jan. 3rd. through the 7th. Our Brazilian exchange student is so excited, she can't wait. It's the one thing that she really wanted to do while here in the U.S. We have decided not to tell our little ones (DD"S 4 and 6) untill we land in Orlando! Hope it works. Now, let's all hope and pray for some good codes or rates to come out!!! By the way, we have never been in Jan. (always June) How is the weather by day and night? What should we pack for clothing? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tink

How exciting!! Weather in January is always iffy. It coule be beautiful and 80 or cold and 40 (40 is cold to some people :goodvibes ) Make sure to pack some jeans and light jackets or sweatshirts because it will almost positively be cold at night.

Hey Tinkerbelle32 what kind of ding fares were you able to get? Was that flying out of Wichita or Kansas City? I fly out of Kansas City and of course the fares aren't out for the 11th of January when we are going yet!!! We took our exchange student from Germany a few years ago and she LOVED it. She still talks about coming back and going to work for WDW!

agotta- Thanks for the quick response! Of course I will be praying for the beautiful and 80's. :worship: :worship: Tink

KarlaG4Kids- We booked our of Kansas City for $51 each way. We also had a German girl last year! It will be so special for us this year because my hubby will be returning home from being deployed! I can't wait. My little ones are going to be estatic!!! Good luck getting your dings!! Tink

Tinkerbelle32....AWESOME rate. I haven't been able to get the ding to work on my computer at all...it just won't communicate. My SIL is deployed right now too. : ( Sad for my DD who is having their first baby in November. Have a great time.

Oh, I feel kinda silly asking but what is "the ding" for airfares? T'anks! :teeth:

Ding is a data push program from Southwest that delivers updates on limited time travel deals (sometimes smokin' ones!) to your desktop. I'm a total dingaholic (LOL -- check it DAILY) but so far haven't had any offers that have worked out with my plans. You can learn more @ southwest.com. GOOD LUCK!

i just don't like this BRP at all. January is only about 110 days away, and the best rate we can get with our AP's is 110 for POR and like 280 for the poly. we're there during value season, so why wouldn't the prices be similar to what we just paid on our vaca last week: 82 POR & 230 Poly? I can see the prices being like 5 or 10 bucks more, but 30 & 50 bucks is too much of a jump.

Thanks much, Sue B! I'm always up for anything that'll get me to WDW cheaper! :goodvibes

Any chance of any codes or discounts coming our for us Jan. people? Now, that the rumour of a discount package becoming available until the end of Dec. makes me kind of nervous that there will not be anything available for Jan.! I guess I could try and get overflow rates from SOG. :scared1:

Actually I'm kinda irked that the packages end in Dec. Jan/Feb has always been value season, and there aren't many specials or great deals then. I personally think that so few people go to Disney then, that the "imagineers" feel its not worth offering any spectatculat deals for that time, because so many people won't be able to or just plain won't take advantage of any packages. However it does still make for a wonderful time to visit the parks. To be honest I'd rather have the parks with no crowds, than free dining and crowds!!

Just my thought, the discount that will be coming out for the end of October will end for check-ins Dec 25. Of course, no specials will be offered for check-ins Dec 26-31., BUT.. I am hoping some deal will become available for Jan 2 or so plus check-ins dates. 2005 Jan codes were good for check-ins Jan 2 onwards. We are checking in Dec 31 (Holiday rate one night) and then checking in again Jan 1 for 7 nights (Value seasonn room only CAA discount).

Ok.. so if I'm using my head right... I'm planning my trip last week/first week Jan-Feb... I haven't booked anything just yet (still dealing with Hurricane Katrina expenses), but maybe some codes and rates will be out before I book and I can use those and get some discounts? Ok, how do you use these codes? I plan on booking my hotel and tickets through WDW online vacation packages with my Disney Visa (another quick question, if someone can help, does the disney visa separate your monthly charges from your vacatoin? so I can keep paying off my monthly charges and some on my vacation?)... is there a place online to enter your code or do you ahve to call and make the reservations? AND say I went ahead and booked my vacation and then the code comes out, can I still use it? If so, how?
I know what codes are, but what's a rate? I mean, yeah that's what I mean...

:listen: Jaime

We're going the same time approx that you are. 1/27-2-7. My understanding is that you can book your room now (so you will definately have a room) and then if discounts/codes come out you can see if they are applicable. Usually there are a limited amount of discounts so I believe you have to act fast. We are booking through Dreams Unlimited so she'll help keep an eye out for us. We went ahead and booked room only with AAA, if something else comes out, we'll see which is the better deal. Good luck with your other questions

just wondering why i have to book room only, I mean can i put the tickets there too or no? and if i go ahead and book my room and if something comes up can I cancel my whole week?

jaime
thanks!

So does the announcement of Oct-Dec package deals make anyone else excited? :cool1: It means we're next! Do you all think this is an encouraging sign for us? I'm looking forward to finding out exactly what the special is.
