Jan 2 was a check-in nightmare

The computer system changed on Jan 2 and caused a great ripple of problems for hotel guest checking in on that day. At the Pop Century, about 1800 guests checked out and 1400 checked in. They were not expecting that number. I feel sorry for the All Star resort folks whose entire hotel is completed and are treated even more like cattle. One desk for all check ins at these two large resorts. We tried several times to check the lines and it looked like the stand-by line for Space Mountain all day from early morning until very late at night.

A CM said that the new ticketing software caused much of the delay and it seemed to be remedied a bit as the week wore on. Lines were much shorter. Still, at these hotels, it's sad you have to wait in yet another line unless you are willing to check in between 2am and 5am.

I'm sorry that you had a long wait for check-in.

Check in: Should'a asked for extra fast passes (no time or date or ride desingation), I think three per family member per hour is a good starting point.

Check out: What to do if your Mears shuttle or airplane leaves soon? One suggestion is to write a note with the time and saying you are checking out, fold it up into a paper airplane, correction don[t do that but find some way to make sure it gets to a cast member without the chance of being pilfered by another waiting guest. Have the cast member autograph a second piece of paper with the date and time that you keep. Now you may depart. Then follow up using email.

Just so you know, I love that everyone is so willing to share their experiences here, I know I learn something from reading, it really adds to my excitement and my planning...

If you pay via credit card, you can arrange to have check out without going to the desk, and they willput the bill put on your door. I usually call down and check it the night before.

If you have a truly heinous check-out time (see my post above) you will not have your statement before you leave. Which leaves me to wonder what might become of the statement, especially if it has my credit card number on it! We will have to check out the old fashioned way, but since it will be an "off" time maybe we won't have to wait in line. I can always send DH down ahead to assess the situation. :smooth:

I definitely agree it was crazy. I checked in on the 2nd at pop century and it felt like at least an hour when I've never really had to wait..but oh well it was a good vacation :cool1:
