Many, many more people … all wonderful friends from DDL

We started this day with our reserved Palo Brunch. We once again had the private dining room. But this time, we had eighteen people and it only seats 14. So there was one table for four outside the room. We were belated celebrating Margaret’s 50th birthday. She had turned 50 six weeks earlier, but her beloved seventeen year old dog/companion died that week and she was not up to celebrating it then. So we turned it into a real celebration for her. Bob and Arlene had ordered a cake for Margaret and it was absolutely gorgeous. The bakery on the ship is great. We all had a couple of glasses of champagne to toast Margaret and get the brunch really started. We had basically the same guest list from Saturday night. But Rose and Tom joined us, along with Charlotte, Bobbie, and Beth. (Christi and Neil were not in this group, so there was more room for DDLers.) Tracy, Al, Diane, and her husband were at the table just outside the private room.

Marco and Salvatore were again our servers. It was as wonderful as the night before. The brunch is a buffet with fresh fruit, cold seafood, appetizers, breads, and deserts. Then you order an entrée which could be an omelet or lunch type. I had a Filet Mignon with wine sauce that was wonderful. Again, Marco was afraid that we would go away hungry, so he kept bringing breakfast flatbreads for the center of the table. After approximately an hour and a half of stuffing our faces, we waddled out of Palo.

At 1:00 pm, we had scheduled a pin trading/pin show off on Deck 10. About six or seven of us met at a table near the adult pool to show off our pin albums to each other and do a little trading. But mainly it was a show off period. We spent about an hour and a half together talking and laughing. I missed the start of a movie that I intended to see in the theater with Christi and Neil. So I skipped meeting them.

I will say that while I was stuffing my face at brunch, I spent $140.00. My one and only child had asked me for a spa treatment. So on Monday morning, she had the full body seaweed wrap treatment and facial massage. Aren’t I a good mommy to pay for that? She loved it. Said it was wonderful. I know that my roomie this trip, Margaret, also fell for the spa. She had treatments similar to Christi’s on the day we were in Key West.

Monday night was our formal night and we all got dressed up in our evening clothes. I cheated and used the black beaded evening gown that I bought for my 2001 cruise. Christi wore a deep blue gown with beads that Neil had picked out for her on our shopping trip the week before the cruise. We all cleaned up real good. As did the other members of the DDL group. It was fun to get together at dinner and see how everyone looked. This was also the night of Morty the Magnificent show. It was corny, but so are lots of Disney shows. I still enjoy going to see the live stage shows on the ship.
Of course, Disney photographers took formal portraits of everyone that night. Christi and Neil were gorgeous together and I didn’t look bad in my picture with them. So I bought every photo of us from that night. I have to say that when other female members of our group were spending big bucks in the Spa, I was keeping the photography shop Shutters going. I spent over $200.00 on Disney photos that week. In addition, I had my film camera and new digital camera and took about 400-500 photos that week. You can tell my preferences, can’t you?

This was also the night of the great disaster at dinner. The night before, Bob had gone to the head server to see if he could get the four DDL tables closer together during dinner. The head server misunderstood and had the servers prepare one giant table for twenty for our dinner. With that many people at one table, we could not talk to any more than the few around us. And the servers could not effectively serve our table. We were there more than 30 minutes after most diners had finished and left the restaurant. So the next night, we were all back at our regular tables in the normal locations.
