Jan. 18 2009 Wonder - who's cruising?

Gypsy Gal and family -- welcome aboard! Looking forward to sailing with you all.

Heather and Jen, good question about the Sunday port timing issues. I'm looking around for my copy of the Passporters Guide to the Disney Cruise Line, which does a good job of outlining the first few hours of the cruise. Unfortunately, I lent the book to friends of ours who are cruising with us. I'd recommend getting a copy of it, either at a local bookstore or from the publisher at www.passporter.com. I'm going by memory, but I believe these are the general items of debarkation day. Others here can update where I'm wrong or you can ask direct questions on the DCL forum:

Earliest ship boarding is 1PM I believe; your stateroom may or may not be ready at this time. The latest would be 3 or 3:30. The mandatory safety drill is at 4PM I believe, and the "sail away" party on the top deck starts at 5. Here's some good info from AllEarsNet which covers boarding. Check out other articles by Deb Wills on AllEarsNet .... she's a cruise veteran with lots of good info. Personally, I got to meet her at last summer's MagicMeets Disney convention in Camp Hill PA.

Yea, we booked the flights, I am going the night before and my sister is arriving at 6am the morning of the cruise. (coming from two different sides of the country). I am wondering if we show up around 7 or 8 am if thats way too early...

I am getting very excited about this cruise. It's my sister and my first cruise! We are both kids at heart. I think we've decided to cancel our excursions. It seems like at 24 and 28, we'll have more fun just relaxing and seeing what we see.... I have done some research, but can anyone offer any recomendations for things to do at nassau that are not "excursions woth disney"?

Thanks to all you who have done this before and are offering you help!

That's probably too early, given that the port will be very busy with the debarkation process of the January 15th (?) sailing of the Wonder, which will be arriving 6AM ish. You may be able to check in and hang in the terminal, or it may not even be open at 8. Feel free to post this question on the DCL forum for a wider audience.

Hi this is my first cruise and I booked online so I don't have a travel agent. I was wondering if you get cruise documents and luggage tags before we go. I haven't received anything. If so when do they come and do they include luggage tags? I can't believe the cruise is a month away. I can't wait We have had snow almost 2weeks straight in Michigan I have been snowed in with my kids all day today and I am dreaming of warm weather!

.....Ahoy Fellow Michigander!! Tis I......from the 01-11-09 Disney Wonder DISmeets board :goodvibes (I am from Gregory....just outside of Ann Arbor).
I received my travel documents Monday (approx 2 weeks prior to departure) & in it were the PAPER luggage tags (four) that all airlines use to tell what luggage is whose & where it it going.
Example, it may read

Name: Doe, John
Locale: Car beach
date: 01-04-09 - 01-08-09 etc....
Dep: DFW

you get the idea??

Yes, my luggage does have the personal luggage tag id on them but NOT these that are being sent to all of us (from DCL). So I am making sure both kinds on on mine.

From Michigan eh?? Well, if this helps, watch your Disney DCL or WDW promo DVD a few more times until your departure date....it will get your mind off the cold temps & more on sunny Orlando! :yay:

P.S. Ya wanna see what 01-11-09 Wonder DISmeets are a doing??? Well, check out OUR board! :woohoo:

I noticed in the online forms to fill out we need to put flight info and stuff. I am not using disney transportation or staying at disney. I am staying with a friend who lives in orlando and he is taking us to the port, do I still need luggage tags and to give them all my flight info?

bumping up the thread...
hope everyone had a great christmas!:santa:
we finally were given room numbers...5509. my parents are booked with us, but they are on deck 6. we were hoping for an upgrade...but it didn't happen. oh well!! we're still happy to be onboard!!!
we gave this trip to our kids as a christmas gift. it was such fun and they were so surprised! santa left them clues for a scavenger hunt, and they were so excited at the end when they figured out that they would soon be boarding the wonder.
can't wait for the next few weeks to pass. happy new year everyone!

We booked through AAA and our agent just called and said she just opened our cruise documents. She was putting them into the mail and I should have them in a couple of days.

It is getting close!

Great news on the cruise docs! I bet ours are at home now. We're still in Indianapolis with my family, and will be heading home tomorrow, by way of the Pittsburgh area to spend new years eve with my brother and his family.

Just a few more weeks!

Does anyone know what time our boat will leave Nassau?

Regarding the online forms, you can skip the airline info. I'd wait for the official cruise docs to arrive (any day now) and review it for info on the luggage tags.

Hope everyone has had a Happy New Year. Just wanted to check in and see if anyone has received their cruise documents/tickets yet. We still haven't received ours. We have two Labs and I don't want them to get hold of them. So I have been patiently hoping that they would arrive by the end of this week while my husband and children are still at home for the holiday break.

Two of the three families in our party have received them. Not sure where the ones for my brother are, but hopefully they will arrive today!!:confused3

Can't believe that after almost a year of planning we are almost on our way! I hope that everyone had a wonderful new year and look forward to meeting you on the ship!

We received ours on 12/31. Came via UPS. We live in the Orlando area though so the docs probably didn't have to travel too far to get here.

Anyone know what movies are playing on the Wonder when we cruise?
We are planning to stay on the ship when we get to Nassau. Anyone else staying on the ship?
Anyone know anything about hair braiding on the ship?
Thanks
julie

I was going to do the same thing...then we decided to wait until the morning of the cruise to tell them...then I decided that the anticipation was part of the 'fun' so we sort of told them a couple days ago. :)

we are very excited. we got the documents in the mail about a week ago. I've never been on a cruise before so I am very anxious.

Great question on the movies. I just posed that question on the DCL forum, since I'd like to know too!

We're more than likely to stay on the shop for most of the time at Nassau. May get off for some sightseeing around the ship, but that's it. I bet there's still a ton to do aboard instead.

No idea about hairbraiding ... I only have boys!
