Has anyone succesfully used the Visa code around the MLK blackout days (Jan 18,19,20)? Our tirp is Jan 15-22 and we want to know if we can use the code at least before and after the blackout? Thanks.

We just booked Jan 18-27 with the code and there was no mention of any blackout in there.

I tried to apply the code for my 17th - 22nd stay and couldn't.

It seems to work as long as you have at least 3 nights that don't fall into the blackout period--not sure if you have to have 3 in a row before of after. During the blackout period you wouldn't get the cheaper room rate but you'd still have your ticket add-ons.

Was able to succesfully use the general public code today for MLK weekend - 1/17 - 1/22. 2 Adults, preferred room at ASmovies 6 day hoppers and more, $956.02. We were originally booked at Coronado Springs at $1550 for the same nights 6 day hoppers no waterparks, but we really wanted a value (supposed to be a cheap trip), but when I booked a few days ago, NO values were available. After the general code opened we were able to switch (maybe value people upgraded?). In any case, I am happy!

Yes you can if it's available. I booked Jan 14-21 and the code applied. A discount was also given on the blackout dates. I got the water parks and more plus a 15% room discount on all 7 nights.

If they say it's not available keep calling back. I called back 3 times before they gave me the discount. First 2 times they told me it wasn't available for any of the values the third time I called I was planning on upgrading to a mod but thought I would ask one more time if they had anything available for Pop.....Third time was the charm, I was able to apply the code to my current Pop reservation.

I am still going round and round with AAA who insist that this code CAN'T be used if your vacation falls anytime within the blackout period. I have even pulled in the branch manager!

Ironically yesterday both my brother and I were able to call Disney ourselves and would have been able to book packages for the exact dates of our trip...USING THE CODE! (with a small change from Pop to ASMovies)

I tried to call the main AAA headquarters in MN but all they will do is file a complaint and route me back to my branch office.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do next?

My suggestion would be to book your reservation yourself through Disney and cancel the one you have with AAA. You shouldn't have any loyalty to go through AAA as they are not giving you accurate information. I'd do it as quickly as possible as these codes are on a first come first serve basis. I booked Jan 14-21 @ Pop, w/ no problem. A discount was also applied to the blackout dates.
