This is MArtin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and we are going to surprise the kids with a quick trip down to use our AP's up... I'm expecting others are doing the same thing - anyone been down this time of year? Crowds a little higher I would think for the holiday weekend.

What about weather?

Any help appreciated :)
thank you!!

I would like to know the answer to this one as well. Also any suggestion on which parks to go on which day of MLK weekend to avoid crowds.

My DH and I were in WDW in 2001 over the MLK weekend. We had no problems with lines or crowds. In fact, we are going again this coming MLK weekend ourselves because we enjoyed it so much the last time.

Well, we are DVC members and can't get anything for Sunday the 16th.. Looks like our trip will not happen. Sat looks full on a cash basis. I'm really bummed - spent two days dreaming to come crashing down... oh well... Our only option is to book two nights off site and then come back for two nights with our points. I don't think we are looking for all that hassle (and added expense!).

Good luck everyone!

When I called CRO last night the man I was working with mentioned that almost all resort rooms had sold out for MLK weekend, so I would expect things to be pretty crowded. Still by using common crowd-avoidance strategies even the busiest days can be just fine.

Have a great time!

They are filming the syndicated version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire that weekend and so that attraction will be closed unless you have tickets.

can you still get tickets, and if so, how? thx.

The international builders show is also in Orlando that weekend. The convention is supposed to have an attendence of 110,000 people. The company I work for is going and we are staying at the hilton at DTD. I am sure a lot of people will go to WDW since they are in Orlando for a trade show.

jaclark - I feel for you. We booked many months ago, so that's why we have a room. However, we recently decided to bring my ILs along, and when we tried to upgrade to a 2BR or get an extra studio, nothing was available for Saturday or Sunday nights. They will have to stay off site for those two nights, then will join us.

The more I'm reading about this, the more concerned I'm becoming that things won't be as empty as we hoped. Although I suspect that Tuesday - Thursday for us will be much better. But I'm seriously going to stay out of MK Sat - Mon. I hope Epcot isn't too bad on Monday. I'm thinking AK on Sunday will be a good choice, because I can't imagine that park ever gets that crowded.
