I've looked all over the internet for any reason why this might not be a good week to go... can't find anything. Does anyone know of any reason why that week might be busy or crowded? We do not love crowds and can only go when crowds are relatively light. We're planning to stay at POFQ and do prob. 2 days at MK, 1 day at Epcot, 1 day at AKL and play the rest by ear... I'm also not a planner (although I know I will need to make some ADRs for the nicer restaurants.)

Thanks!

A couple of things come to mind - MLK is Monday, January 16th - so it's a long weekend for many folks - could be busy. Also, there is a Builders' Convention in Orlando from January 11 - 13th which expects to draw over 100,000 people - some of the those folks will probably stay for the weekend.

Once you get through the three-day weekend, it should be fine.

It's MLK weekend - a tad bit crowded as any holiday brings crowds to MK.

That said... we'll be there from Jan 13-22. :rotfl:

We're booked at POFQ from Jan. 15th-22nd. We start over MLK weekend, but I've heard that once the weekend is over, we should have a fairly quiet week.

We were there January 12-16 this year.

The Builders Convention was slated to draw over 120,000 attendees. Many of them were staying at Disney resorts but the parks were not that crowded. They did close MK one night because the Builders had a private party.

The college cheerleading championships were at Wide World of Sports and also at MGM. Again, not crowded but it did impact the MGM hours and the Indidana Jones show was closed because they were cheering on that stage.

There were multiple other sports things (Tae Kwon Do, 3 on 3 soccer, some sort of adult baseball leagues) but the parks were fine. We saw ONE group of Brazilian teenagers at MGM but they didn't bother us. In fact we saw them on the Great Movie Ride first thing in the morning and didn't see them again until Fantasmic that night and they were WAAAAY across the stadium from us.

The biggest worry we really had was weather. It POURED rain on our third day and our fourth day was cold, misty, and yucky. Pack for every possible weather scenario.

We went home the day before MLK Monday so I don't know how bad the crowds got. With the weather being yucky it might not have gotten more crowded after we left.

I might be down there for the CP :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
It starts the 12th. Havent had the interview yet though.

So, in other words, not too bad, there may be some larger groups and that Monday may be a little hairy? I can handle that. Thanks!

I plan on being there from the 17th to the 21st. I have our flights, but am waiting for my AP to reserve a room at the YC. Hope the potential crowds are gone by the time we arrive!

We tried to book this week as well and everything was booked up. So we are going January 21st-28th. All hotels were "wide open" that week.

TinkHappy,

Who did you try to book through - online shows tons of availability in all resort catagories for the week of Jan 14 to the 20th.

I tried to book DVC VWL for that week. I know space is limited, so maybe that it was just DVC that was booked that week. :confused3 :flower:

We're going the 13th - 20th. Had originally booked 15th-20th at SSR, but decided to add on a couple days at WL. We're anticipating the parks might be busy due to the holiday weekend, but plan to take it easy and spend time enjoying the resort and checking out other resorts, and doing only a little park time early in the AM and later in the evening. Plus, we have family joining us on Sunday the 15th and this will give us and our kids a little time for just us.

I can't wait!!

We are going Jan 16 to Jan 21 and staying at the WL. We figure that Monday will be busy but the rest of the week should be great.
