Jan 10, 2015 Eastern Caribbean (St Thomas) DCL Disney Disboards Fantasy

Hi everyone!! I kept checking and wasnt seeing a thread for this cruise. So glad to find it! . This will be the hubster and my 4th Disney cruise. Always in January and the 3rd time doing this particular one. We are bringibg along some family too. My mom and my sister, her hubby and their daughter. Yayy!!! Cant wait to meet you all. :)

Yay!! So glad to have another person! Since you have always done Jan the weather must be good! That's what we are hoping for!

We have always loved the weather. The average temps in the Caribbean are around 80F, so it's perfect for snorkeling or swimming. Out of the three cruises we have done only one,on one night were the waters a bit rough one evening. It was actually a lot of fun watching people swaying all around while trying to look cool and casual like they were in total control. Looked like a bunch of drunk fools, we did :) :drinking1

Can we join the FE group without being on facebook? Would love to join. Please send me details. Thanks

Sure you can send me a private message! We only have one revolving laptop my husband uses for work since I have an iPad so hopefully this weekend I can start a spreadsheet. We are moving next weekend so I don't want to make any promises but message me do I have your info!

We haven't officially booked yet, but it looks like this is the only cruise that will fit our schedules in 2015!! Should be booking soon. We have a "dummy" cruise booked. I just need to contact my travel agent and have her switch it to this one....just trying to decide what stateroom category we want.

This will be our 3rd Disney cruise. First on the Fantasy. Anyone have room suggestions? I'm trying to decide between the ocean view (which is what we had on the Wonder & the Magic) and veranda. It seems like the Fantasy is quite different from the old ships so I'm a little out of my element here.

Hoping the water isn't too cold to snorkel. We cruised to Castaway Cay in February in 2009 and the water was too cold for me and the kids. Hubby braved it and snorkeled!

I'll join the FE list as soon as we officially book. We did that for the first time on our last cruise and had a blast with it!! ::yes::

Hello!

I am very excited to be going on my first Disney Cruise. We are going on this cruise to celebrate my mother's 75th birthday. We're a party of 6: My mom, her friend, myself, my husband and our two daughters (ages 7 and 5).

My husband and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon, but that is our only cruising experience. So not only are we new to DCL, but we aren't particularly knowledgeable about cruising in general.

My immediate family (husband and daughters) are planning to visit WDW before we set sail. My husband visited there as a teenage, but it will be the first trip for the rest of the family.

I must admit that I am feeling a little overwhelmed about what I need to know to make the most of the cruise and the trip to WDW. So I am thrilled to have found Disboards, to help answer my questions and find out all the things I don't know.

Looking forward to participating in FE's.

Sounds great! We booked a verandah and are so looking forward to enjoying it! We have a 3yr at the time of the cruise so we thought why not enjoy the open water while he naps!! :)

So nice to have more people joining! I'm waiting before starting to investigate ports because the anxiety is too much! Ha ha! We can make reservations and on line check in 60 days before our cruise when it's the first time we sail DCL?

You can actually book 75 days before! We can book on October 27 to be exact. I already know what I want to book since I am nervous it will all be booked up! Fingers crossed that we all get the excursions and reservations we want!!!!

I'm leaning toward the veranda this time too. The last two times we just had ocean view with the big port hole. I was nervous when the kids were little about them falling overboard, but they're bigger now and can swim so....:)

I also like being midship and most of those rooms are verandas. I just got the quotes from my travel agent today so now I just have to talk with the hubby and decide what we want. The kids have no idea that I'm planning this. I'm going to surprise them with it on Christmas...that is if I can contain my excitement and keep my mouth closed for the next six months!

I laughed out loud at dinner when I read the swimming comment... Whoops! I don't think I could keep it a secret that long. I am a known early gift giver.

Hello! We just booked our first Disney Cruise and can't wait to sail in January! We are very new to DSL - we have 16 in our travel party. I have lots of questions about the Fish Extender stuff. Sounds like it would be something my kids would love, they are 5 & 6. Would someone be able to tell me how we get involved?

We are now officially booked!! :yay: We went with a veranda room this time instead of just the family ocean view. I'm so excited, but I can't say anything since it's a surprise for the kids. I'm pretty sure my husband is already getting tired of all of my Disney talk!!

I want to do a couple of days at WDW before the cruise. I'm looking at the Art of Animation resort. Has anyone stayed there before? Last time we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and really liked it so I was just going to do that again, but the Art of Animation one looks so fun!

You can join by going to the fish extender FB link. (posted in the last reply) If you want to know more about them in general google "fish extender" or search it on Pinterest. There's a ton of stuff out there!! It's so fun. We did it for the first time on our last cruise. I'm sure your kids will love it!

Does anyone know if there's a character breakfast on board the Fantasy. I've read conflicting things online. Also, I read there is no Tea with Alice (or Wendy, or whomever) Is that right?

My DD and I did tea with Alice last time we sailed so I'd be okay with not having that, but I really hope there's a character breakfast!!

I think they are teas and stuff like that to meet with the characters.

They used to have a character breakfast the last morning.

Btw I updated the Roll Call finally.

Did a little searching to see which ships would be in port with ours so I thought I'd post it here in case anyone else in wondering.

St. Thomas:
13-Jan-15 Carnival Freedom, Noordam, Oasis Of The Seas, Disney Fantasy, Carnival Sunshine, Celebrity Reflection

San Juan:
14-Jan-15 Nieuw Amsterdam, Disney Fantasy, Carnival Sunshine

6 on the St. Thomas day! That makes me wonder how crowded the beaches are going to be. I was thinking about going over to St. John, but maybe I'll just plan a snorkeling excursion instead.

Only 3 on the San Juan day though...that's pretty good.
