Staying at Ft. Wilderness cabins for the first time.

January 9

We woke up late that day. When I called to cancel our PS’s back in Tennessee, I made a PS for Cindy’s for lunch at 12:45pm. I knew the marathon was going on that day, so I figured it would be a good day to sleep late.

The teens didn’t really feel like going to MK, but they wanted to go to Cinderella’s castle. We all drove over there and didn’t really do too much before our PS at Cindy’s. We got there about 10 minutes early and they had a table ready for us. We said that would probably be our last meal at Cindy’s for a LONG time. We’re just not impressed with the food or the ambience. If I pay $85 for a lunch, it should be OUTSTANDING. We said we’ll try something different next time.

After lunch, we headed to Pirates because the teens wanted to buy some jewelry from the store there for their friends. Dh took the little ones on the pirates ride while I shopped with the teens. After we all met up, the teens left and said they would meet us back at Pirates at 5:30pm. They were heading back to the cabin to lay out by the pool.

We went to the Tiki Room (I don’t like the new songs). We rode Aladdin. We took the train to Toon Town to see the Princesses and Pooh…that’s always fun. We also went to the Hall of Presidents. I told dh the one thing they need to do at the HOP is to hand out pillows as you walk in…lol. We were all ready for a rest by then! We rode lots more rides and then headed back to Pirates to meet the girls. We waited about 10 minutes and they didn’t show up. Since it was our last night there and MK was closing at 7pm, we decided to not wait for them. We tried to get fastpasses for Splash but it was down. We got FP for MTMRR instead. We went back to MTMRR for the fastpass time and we were going to do the baby swap, but that was closed down now. The little ones wanted to ride the Indy Speedway so I took them over there. Dh went to ride Splash by himself and then head back to Pirates to see if the teens showed up.

I just can’t understand the fascination with the Speedway. To me, it’s just a waste of time to stand in line. The park seemed dead except for this ride. We waited almost 30 minutes to get on. When we got off, the teens and dh were there. The teens got in line for the Speedway and I was kinda upset they didn’t want to spend the last ride of our vacation together as a family…we were heading for Dumbo!!! The park was closing soon but I knew we had time to ride Snow White before Dumbo. The line at Snow White was completely empty. I’m glad I got to ride that because that is one of my favorite rides. We then headed over to Dumbo and got on the ride as they started the fireworks. That was a special way to end our trip…riding Dumbo while watching the fireworks. I just wish the teens were with us. Well…that was ok…they were having their own fun.

We left MK and stopped in the candy store at the end of Main street first. Another tradition for us!

We got back to the cabin, watched the weather channel, and packed up. The teens were at MGM for the EMH night. They got back and I told them to hurry up and pack. .I ended up helping them pack since it was getting pretty late.

Next report: the LOOOOONG drive home

Eating at the castle is getting old to me too, but we're doing it again this trip because my aunt & uncle have never been. Glad this was a good day for you too.
