January 7

We planned on heading to MGM today. I posted in my trip report, part 1 that when we got held up in Tennessee with a sick child, I called and cancelled all of my PSs. Well, I didn’t cancel all of them. The CM at dining told me to keep my PSs for the last 2 days of the trip “just in case” and I could cancel them at the last minute. So, this was the day we had PS’s for SciFi Drive in Diner.

Dh was feeling better and he was up and ready to go. We planned on letting the little ones sleep in a bit so we headed out a little bit later…around 10am or so. The teens wanted to lay out by the pool so we planned on meeting them around 2:45pm for our 3pm PS.

We drove to MGM and as soon as we got there we saw all lots of characters out. We got pics with Snow White, Pocohantus, Mary Poppins, Mulan, and I’m sure there were others…I’ll have to recheck all of my pics!

We headed over to Mermaid for our first show and of course, we all loved it. There’s not a lot for the little ones to do at MGM so the rest of our visit at MGM wasn’t too memorable. We did see more characters and rode the Great Movie Ride. We picked up 4 fastpasses for RnR to ride later. Then we headed to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playset and let the kids run around. We made it back to the Sci-Fi restaurant at 2:45pm and the teens were already there waiting for us. We had a fun time at the Sci Fi. That was our first visit to that restaurant.

We left the restaurant and left the little ones with the teens so dh and I could go ride RnR. That “used” to be my favorite ride at WDW. We headed to the fastpass line and we saw the standby line said 30 minute wait. As we were walking through the line, a family from the standby line hopped over the rope and got in front of us in the fastpass line. Hmmmm…what’s up with that???? It was mom, dad, brother, sister…typical family. We could overhear them talking amongst themselves trying to figure out what to say to the CM when they got up to there and they had no fastpass to hand in. We couldn’t hear what they were plotting, but dh and I couldn’t believe it! They got up to the CM and said something. The CM pulled them aside, took our fastpasses and the few people that were behind us. We walked up into the next area and we were saying, “HA! They thought they could just hop the line!” Well, about 2 minutes later, here comes walking in the family. I guess their “story” was good enough to get them through. Oh well…what are you going to do?

We got up to the ride and they put us in the last car. I was starting to get nervous like I always do on the “big” rides. But this was such a cool ride and I couldn’t wait. As we were waiting for the take-off, dh held my hand (knowing I was getting nervous). OK, this USED to be my favorite ride. This time, it was all I could do to keep from getting my head broken off!!! My head banged back and forth so much I couldn’t enjoy the ride. It was actually really irritating me! I tried as hard as I could to keep my head straight, but I couldn’t even focus on the graphics throughout the ride….they were all a blur. We got off the ride and dh said, “ready to go again?” No way! I was starting to feel out of sorts and I didn’t want to tempt anything and get a huge headache if I rode again. I told him no, but he could go ahead. Instead he headed over to ToT to get fastpasses…did I want one? Uh, NO WAY. The ride wasn’t working so we waited for the kids and then dh rode with them on RnR again. I got the little ones some mint chocolate chip ice cream cones and we waited for the rest of the family at the exit to RnR.

We decided it was time to leave and head back to the cabin. The teens wanted to head back to Epcot for the night so we all parted our ways. I was sound asleep until they got back (dh waited up for them). They woke me up as they were coming in. The little ones were still sleeping. Dh, dd17, dn13, and I all talked about AK. Since I was just so disappointed in RnR that day, I wanted to ride my next favorite ride: Dinosaur. I was telling dd17 about the Lion King show (which she didn’t get to see yet) and dn13 wanted to see the Safari. We decided we would get up really early the next morning for AK’s EMH morning. It would be me, dd17, and dn13. We would ride Dinosaur, the Safari, and see the Lion King show. We’d get back to the cabin early enough that the kids and dh would probably still not be ready. The teens would then lay out by the pool and dh, me, dd6, and ds4 would go to Epcot. We’d all meet up in Japan for a PS at 4:30pm. I told the teens that we had to get to AK by 8am. They agreed they would get up early and then sleep at the pool when we got back.

Next report: AK’s EMH morning and Epcot

hmmmm, did the girls really get up early?

The last time I road R&R I thought it was really bumpy too.
