Good Morning!

Only 12 more sleeps and we will be surprsing our kids with our stay at AKL. I am so excited I have a hard time believeing it myself! All the wonderful pictures and stories have made it even more exciting!

Good Morning everyone
I love your picture HLauburn !!
We are going to be staying at ALK for the first time . We are not going to be there until April 25th and we can't wait . Is there any must do's with little ones that are 4 1/2 ? How is the transportaion to Disney World , and the Animal Kingdom ?
We are lucky enough to be leaving ALK after 4 days and going on their 7 day Eastern cruise on the Magic
Also can anyone tell me how The Whispering Canyon is and will it be a complete pain to get there ? We also have reservations for the Hoop Dee Doo revue can anyone tell me where that is in contrast to the WL ?
I really appreciate any of you help .
Have a wonderful day everyone .
I'm jealous Hewyloeanddewymom , let us know how your trip was when you get home !

They have a whole board that lists all of the neat things you can do at the lodge like a story teller kids can make these bead braclets....I can't remember everything off the top of my head, but they will tell you about it when you check-in.

I have stayed at a number of the disney resorts and I think AKL has the best transportation. Don't let anyone tell you they are so far away that it takes forever to get anywhere. I think it takes 20 minutes tops to get to MK. Think of all the resorts that have multiple stops and combine resorts. AKL is just for AKL.

I have never eaten at WCC, but I would allow about an 1hr-1hr and 30 min to get there using WDW transportation. Depending what time you are eating at you could take a bus from AKL to AK and then a bus from AK to WL. Otherwise you could take a bus from AKL to MK and then MK to WL. The possiblities are endless for that.

It is at Fort Wilderness which is very close by to WL. WL and FW share busses.

Hopefully, that helps some.

Thanks scoutsmom , we are getting very excited , Holly keeps asking to watch the Disney cruise DVD that they sent us , and the DW DVD everyday .

OOOPs, Kimmar , thats what I ment to write , it has been a long day I didn't get home till 3:00 this morning and up at 6:30 .

When I stayed at AKL and did Hoop Dee Doo we took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. When you get off the boat it is just up from the dock and very easy to find. Also the boat ride is a pleasant trip and a different mode of transportation to try.
The trip to AK is very short about 5-10 mins and the one to the Magic Kingdom I never timed but never felt very long. I agree with the above poster don't let anybody knock the transportation from the AKL it is really great no matter where you want to go.

We just got back (so sad I am) and felt that the transportation was very good. The only time it seemed to take too long was the time we just missed the bus to Epcot. A call informed us the bus arrived every 30 minutes. We were never waiting to long, and the ride was a good time to relax and enjoy the view. I never felt as though I was too far away from anything.

I have a totally bizarre, random question, but the title in the thread reminded me of it. I am making my DD some overalls to wear to Animal Kingdom, and I had planned on embroidering "Jambo" on the leg. Will anyone get it?? I know I get it and the CMs will, but will people think my kid's name is Jambo? :confused3

Thanks...sorry, its been a long day. Just wanted to get some opinions from AKLers.

Perhaps if you embroidered some other word, like "AKL", or included some animals on it, it would make it more obvious.....just a suggestion.. :confused3

(good morning, fans of the AKL!)

Hi AKL Fans :sunny:

I just booked for December and I'm really excited about it :goodvibes

Looks like it will be myself, DD12 Noel with SuAnne & her DD13 Hayley again!! (We did WL in Dec 04)

I booked AKL Concierge December 13th - 17th and then 2 nights at GF RPC

The 14th is Noel's BD and we are thinking about doing the new cindy's dinner... and the 18th is my BD - so I am not sure what we will do at GF on that day.

So glad this thread is here... other wise I would go crazy with the wait ::yes::

AKL is just beautiful at Christmas you won't be disapointed. Just got my call two days ago from Don in CL and am so excited. I booked my safari and the rest of my dining plans. Can't wait to go now :flower:

You know, we went to Disney at Christmas 2004 and we could have stayed anywhere but picked WL because we thought AKL would not be cozy or christmassy enough. (usually we go there in the summer)

But one day during our stay at WL we popped in to AKL and man was it gorgeous, even nicer than WL in my opinion. I decided then that one year we would try it in December. I am happy it is happening sooner than expected :goodvibes

Don is a really big help....never got the chance to meet him in person, tho'.... :sad1: !!

Just read this whole thread and I think I still have one question?

We are booked for Savannah rooms but I wondered if any one floor is better than any other? We are hoping for Arusha Rock and I heard somewhere that the 2nd and 3rd floor are "closer" to the animals than 4th?

Hope someone answers!

Yes, well the lower you are the closer you are to the ground so you can see them better, but the higher you are the more of an expansive view you have of the savanna.

(ie) from a higher floor I have seen a giraffes legs, and his head is hidden by the tree... but then go down to the 3rd floor and I can see the whole giraffe under the tree.

It is a trade off... I would not say one is better than the other, they are both good for different reasons.
