I know this question has been addressed here before, but I want to be absolutely sure I have this correct. I got my confirmation and it says, "Std. Kilimanjaro Club -- Savannah Room Requested" . I was under the assumption that all CL rooms were now guaranteed savannah view rooms?

Well, the new 100% no smoking rule as of June 1st sort of puts a monkey into the wrench.

Until THAT change, all the Non-smoking standard concierge rooms were savannah view. The smoking rooms were mostly savannah with some pool view. With the change to 100% non-smoking....now there are some standard concierge pool view rooms. Make sense?

If you send an email to the AKL concierge telling them of your coming trip, they will email you back. When they do, email them your request for a Savannah view room. That's what I did. Since you will check in through the concierge I think it's pretty safe to say that if they tell you you will have a Savannah view room, you will. You can at that time also tell them anything else you will need or want.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for all your help. We got a great rate at BC (my favorite area) so we have switched. I did not relize until I switched how worried I was about the construction until I flipped and it felt like a weight had been lifted. I should also say that the CM that switched us said I was probably a lot more worried about the construction than I should have been. That it most likely would not effect us if we would have stayed at AKL. I am sure we will be staying at AKL in the next few years so I will see you again then. :goodvibes:

I have a question for the AKL experts here. How do you think the Sunrise Safari is going to be handled now that the Tusker house will be closed for a refurb? Normally after the safari you are taken to the Tusker House for breakfast, where will we go now?

I THOUGHT I remembered reading that this was going to move to the Yeti and Yak (or whatever the new sit down place is called) permanently once that place opens....but I could be wrong.

If not, they could always use Restaurantasaurus, if they had to. Hopefully with the food offered currently, though.

Yeah my guess was Yeti and Yak. That would actually be a good way to check out the new restaurant.

I AM SORRY - IN ADVANCE - but this thread is more than 500 pages long! WOW!!!

I tried to run a search but it won't search just this thread (user error to be sure).

My question is whether some of you AKL experts can give me a rec on the BEST pool view rooms? We are returning to AKL on May 26th and can't wait!

Thanks in advance!

Laura

Hi Everyone,
I myself feel bad too for asking about stuff you guys must answer a thousand times but we are staying at AKL for two nights, June 3rd and 4th only. We plan on using the resort the first whole day and doing MK the next and then the resort and DTD before we head back to Naples. I would appreciate ANY advice or anything anyone would want to throw out there....

Ideas for things to do in a short time?
Should we take the bus or drive to MK?
When we booked a standard room we were told that we would not have a view of the parking lot. Is this true?
Any pool advice?
Should we try and request somethin ahead of time like a specific building or room???

Thanks a ton! You guys seem to be the AKL experts!

The resort has it own disney bus to the parks. I mean its not shared with any
other resort . Its only short time to Mk also. There are many activities at the AKL adults and children can participate in to. As well as the savanah views and watching the animals. In the evening i think they still have a cultural themed activity -One of the Park workers from Africa tells where he/she lives
and the variuos things there. Theres night vision goggles to watch the savanah at night. Lots of things for chilren to do. I did the sunrise safari one day. I still want to go back some day.:)

Hi Laura, in my opinion there aren't any bad pool view rooms. I would recommend to request a room close to the lobby (but the pool view rooms are all fairly close) on Zebra trail, because then you will be able to look out towards the Savannah when walking along the hallway to your room. If you prefer to be close to the bus stop, you should request giraffe trail. Personally I prefer a higher floor to have a good view over the pool, but if you want to be more secluded, second floor would be a good option. We had room no. 4456 and loved it. Especially because it was close to the elevator down to the Mara.

We just got back from a weekend at AKL (our first ime there). We LOVED room 2452 on the Zebra Trail. It was so close to everything (elevator, pool, Mara, arcade) and right across the hall from an observation deck for the Savannah.

However, starting at 9 a.m. on Monday morning - BZZZZT! BAM! BAM! :headache: Very loud drilling and hammering noises. The CM who delivered breakfast said the work was being done on the 5th floor, but it sounded so much closer.

Still, we fell in love with AKL and cannot wait to go back. I hope we'll be able to get a pool view room without the construction noise. :)

Was your room pool view?

I just wanted to reiterate that. I haven't posted on this thread but I had changed to WL earlier in the week because of worries. However I was right the opposite. Ever since I had switched I just couldn't stand the thought of not staying at AKL. So after a few days of thinking in detail about it I called tonight and changed back to AKL.:cloud9: For me the importance of the theme and just the feeling I get from the pictures of AKL was a little more important than the construction worry.

But the part that I wated to reiterate is this: When I called CRO I spoke w/ Jessica and she was very helpful and seemed to know what she was talking about unlike other CMs that I've dealt with. She went on to tell me that apparently on one of the message boards panic had stricken and ALOT of people were cancelling AKL. She went on to tell me that yes there will be noise but most people will be at the parks during this time. She said that the chances are greater that we will have a very pleasant stay rather than a ruined vacation. And like I had posted before they are telling us about the noise and construction so we won't be surprised when we get there.

Thanks, Flossbolna for the advice!

My only "request" was for a pool view room close to Mara/lobby. I think I'm ok with either the higher floor/better view or lower floor/treehouse effect. Both sound great!

I too am a little nervous about the construction. We were booked at the GF but my DDs REALLY wanted to go to AKL (which houses our fave restaurants anyway). When I booked, I was told all construction will occur during the day.

I can handle 9:00 a.m. construction - just hope it isn't any earlier!!!!;)

I have to admit to you guys that I am getting nervous with this construction talk. We are going to AKL with the sole purpose of utilizing the resort. We are staying ONLY two nights and when we arrive we intend on spending the day at the resort that whole first day. Also, should I be worried about my STANDARD view??
Thank!
