Dh and I will be at AKL for our first Deluxe stay in late September. We're very excited!!! I am searching for the Great Hotels with Samantha Brown at the AKL. It's several years old, but I had it once on VHS. I looked at 20 tapes over the weekend. DH thought I was nuts. Anyone have a copy??? We booked Savanah view because we wouldn't take the chance of expecting an upgrade. I did request a King bed, but I understand it is only a request. We are Disney Vets, no kids yet. We booked the dinning plan, wouldn't go without it!!! I look forward to reading this thread daily and catching up with all the happenings.
I'm so excited..I just can't hide it...I'm about to loose control and I think I like it!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

...that is so awesome!! You will definitely be 'hooked' once you are there!

(PS ~ JAMBO!! and :welcome:....)

I read on the DVC board that construction would begin early fall of 2007. Our trip is scheduled for early September, we are loooking veryforward to this trip. Does anyone have any further details on how the construction will affect stays? The CM assured me that the pool and all will be open as usual. Just looking for some first hand knowledge. TIA

The new building is going up next to the current building on the Sunset Savannah side so if it was me, I would avoid the Sunset Savannah Kudu Trail rooms. As for the animals, I am sure they won't do anything to adversely affect them but they might have to keep them away from the savannah near the construction site.

The pool and other areas aren't anywhere near the new construction.

Hi Renessa - our stay at AKL in December will be our first in a Deluxe too. I was a value resort girl, until I found this thread - and got a pin code! Let's do the deluxe dance together - shall we? :dance3:

And all I can say is..........WOW!!!What a great resort it is, I got a Savannah view too! Totally Awesome!:thumbsup2 :cool1:

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome....

and yes PoohBear, we want pictures!!!!!!!!

Thanks SharonLowe & RachelTori :thumbsup2 I'm sure AKL will do all they can to ensure that business goes on as usual. We just can't stand the wait and this is our first deluxe stay at our DREAM resort. :woohoo:

:goodvibes I just got off the phone with the beverage CM for AKL. Just thought I would let anyone else who might need to know, AKL does have chocolate soy milk in thier little grocery store. :thumbsup2

When in September is everyone going?! I will be there with DH and the 2 boys from the 21st to the 26th.

Dana
We'll be there Sept 4th-15th

Your dh sounds similar to mine! I may just fib and say we are staying at All Stars or something. If I tell him Deluxe now, he may start questioning the price, and we can't have that now  Once we are there, I know he will be hooked when he will be able to step out on the balcony and see the animals

That's TOTALLY why I haven't mentioned it! We were planning on staying at CSR for the first time & I got the code so for the $11 more than the AAA discount we could stay at AKL! Well, how could I pass THAT up?!:flower3: And I know he would love it if he knew the price would be the same as we were planning on paying, but my luck if I tell him about the discount, he'd say, well what about the Poly!! ;) Which, I did look into, but even with the code it was WAY out of our range!! It may just happen that I get a call from our TA that CSR was totally booked for a conference & we were moved to AKL!! :thumbsup2

I have always wanted to try the Poly too. Maybe someday. Heck I want to try WL too! And the Boardwalk resorts....Geez! I better get a full time job! ;)

We are booked next month for our 2nd trip to AKL. But our 1st time in a savannah room. It is my daughter's 9th birthday and I want it to be special. Can anyone tell me about their favorite savannah view rooms. I tried glancing at some of the pages of this thread, but oh my gosh there is just some much info to take in here. I'm really enjoying reading it, but I'm afraid I won't be thru before it's time to go next month.:rotfl2: I've heard some of the rooms can be a far walk from the elevator. I'm not concerned about that. I don't mind the walk. I'm just looking for a wonderful view.:)

Hey, what can you vets tell me about the kids buffet choices at Boma? My child is kinda picky. Also, is it okay for an adult to eat off the kids stuff?

Hey everyone. OK here is my thing. If I wanna upgrade to savannah I need to do it now before the rooms are gone. So as you know its just me and DH. Right now we have pool view with bunk beds. For a little over $300 which turnes out to be about $40 extra per month, do you think we should go ahead and upgrade to savannah or just stick with the pool view room? We wont be spending to much time in our room except after the parks close, especially like MK since it closes at 7, we just might go back to the room and relax instead of going to Epcot to catch IllumiNations each night, so we can enjoy the view somewhat. Or do you all think we should just save the $300 stick with what we have and pray for an upgrade. Hopefully they will give us one since we will be celebrating our anniversary and the fact its just me and DH and we dont need a room with bunk beds. They could upgrade us and give the room to a family who NEEDS bunk beds. I had no choice but to take the pool view with bunk beds or savannah since everything else for AAA rooms are booked.

Did you have it noted on your reservation that it's your anniversary Make sure you do that!

If you'll mostly be spending time in your room at night, you won't see much with a savannah view. The pool view at night is very pretty IMO. There are many more savannah view rooms than pool view so I'd say the odds are in your favor for an upgrade. But if your heart is truly set on a savannah view, you should probably book it now. You'll have a fabulous time no matter which "view" you end up with! :cloud9:

I told my AAA TA to have it noted on my reservation. Weither or not she actually did, who nos. So I plan on just asking if they have a note on my reservation about us celebrating our anniversary when we go to check in. If they do, cool, if not, oh well. If we dont get any extra pixiedust: and get a free upgrade, oh well. Who knows. Maybe my upgrade will be a 1 night stay in the castle. I would rather have that then the savannah view any day!:)

I dont understand how they book. All I wanted was bunkbeds and I could care less which view because we are hardly ever in the room. But to "guarantee" bunks we had to reserve a pool view or deluxe savanna.

Leaving today for a long weekend at AKL - I can't wait.

Looks like its going to be a nice weekend too- :woohoo:

We were at AKL last week and had a great room & view, #3507. We were on Zebra trail on the Arusha Savannah. The room had bunk beds (which truly MADE my daughter's trip!) and was close to the elevator that took us down to The Mara. Post #7033 on this thread (I think it is page 469) shows our pictures.

Enjoy! My DH & I were scheming last night to figure out how we could get back to AKL soon!
