We're back!! Actually we got back a couple of days ago but we've been busy going through all our pictures so I haven't had a chance to come here. What a great hotel! We loved it. Our room was 4213, Arusha Savannah, Kudu trail. And bunkbeds! My husband and I actually got to share the same bed. All my requests were met. We saw a lot of animals from our balcony, giraffes, zebras, elands etc and we were right over Pelican pond (that's what we called it). Those pelicans cracked me up. They reminded us of mobsters or the Sopranos, just sitting around loitering and squawking and once in a while chasing away anyone who tried to invade their territory. :)

I'll post pictures and try to get a trip report going later on. Unfortunately I caught a cold somewhere along the way so I'm a bit fuzzy headed right now.

Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a great time! The pelicans are funny! My DH and I were walking around on the rock, going 'where is that coming from???' and when we found them they just get squawking!

Hope you feel better soon, can't wait to read your report and see pics! :bitelip:

My mini report on the December 4th trip is posted :goodvibes

Thank you, I'll head right over!

Our AKL ornament just went on the Christmas Tree! It looks like three ornamental balls that look like a "Mickey", and painted with a leopard design! Anyone else with AKL ornaments?

Hi everyone, I'm feeling better about the weather forecast, everytime I look it seems to be getting cooler - one day saying a high of 68 which is perfect for the parks :)

Everytime I look the forecast is different. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

plutospup - I don't have any AKL decorations, I'll have to pick one up. We do have a set of lion king decorations though :)

Hey all! I know I've been like a ghost on these boards lately. DH as you know has been back from Iraq for a few months now. Change of plans in our disney trip. We decided to go in December instead of August 2007. We plan on still celebrating our anniversary, but this would be cheaper on us monthly for saving up and plus I've always wanted to go down for xmas. We will be going from the 3rd - 12th and yes we are still staying at the AKL. Now, this is where I need your all help and opinions. Since we are going at a later date, we can now stay in Savannah instead of standard. Since the parks close earlier in december then in august, this will allow us to be in the room more at night. So heres my question. Should we do savannah or just save the money and do standard? The main time we will be in the room is at night, and I dunno how good you can see the animals at night from the rooms. So if you cant see really good, then it would be better for us to just do standard. Any opinions on this would be great!

Good morning all. 6 days for us...

Hey, Cass...the forecast is definitely trending "better" (dryer, cooler) after we get past mid-week...the "screaming easterlies" are gonna give a quick shreik and then be outta there. So, we can be of good cheer :thumbsup2  :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We booked a Standard for next week to save some big bucks (that we can spend elsewhere!), and if they give us a Standard, I don't think we'll suffer (or at least we won't know what we're missing). But, I think the chances are pretty good of an upgrade in December...AND even if we/you don't get one "gratis", you/we can pay for an upgrade at the last minute! So, if I were you I'd book Standard initially. I'll refine my opinion when we get back!!!

I agree with our Weather Messenger (nice 6 day wiggle there, Ronald Duck!!) - I'd book a standard or pool. In fact, that's what we have booked for our upcoming trip!!

The screaming easterlies bettah stay out of my way

As for standard/savanna rooms in 2007, I believe it will be much harder to be upgraded because of the DVC situation. If you book a standard you need to be prepared to really be assigned a standard instead of pool or savanna.

I would say book what you really want to have to avoid disappointment.

DS is getting over his fever. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I've been a bit worried about a sick birthday boy at the world. Even though I know sick or not, it's the best place to be. Now it olls like we're :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: .

So here's my three days wiggle:

:Pinkbounc :yay: :woohoo:

What is causing his fever? poor little guy, sounds like you have lots of time to all be healthy. :)

He's had a headache for days. The best the dr. could say was some sort of virus. I personally think its a combination of change of seasons., mild allergy, and inheriting my father's Orca size sinuses. Which is still better than a virus.

Still it's hard to see my little dude walking around and holding his head. He actually asked me the first night if this is what it felt like to die. :(

But things are looking up as I said-so when you see two redheads loving AKL say Hi!

Orca sized sinuses LOL

Poor little guy :( I hope he feels back to normal soon.

I started packing this morning!!!!!!!!!!! I have laundry on now with trip clothes, I have our passports, documents and US DOllars all ready. Sun lotion, sunglasses, umbrella

Ihave to do all this on the sly, my DD still has no idea :)

I know I could never keep an exciting secret like that! Hey, I can't even keep a tiny Christmas present a secret.

Worrying about actual or pending sicknesses is the WORST part of planning for Disney...especially in winter when they are everywhere! I'm glad things are progressing for your son.

So, I guess dreamer423 is the fourth poster who will overlap at AKL with us...along with PracPerfectPatricia and Cass. OK, so before the first one leaves, I want to know how to recognize each of you!

4 brunettes, 2 ladies, 2 12 year old girls, all with bright green DIS lanyards :)

2 redheads-1 mom, 1 5 y.o., either alone or surrounded by indulgent SIL, BIL and DN 5 -all brunettes, DGM, DGF, DGA, all some form of brunette/grey.

We'll hopefully all be wearing variuos tie-dye, transfer shirts I so lovingly made. And I'm no artist, so it may look more like my DS made them. :teeth:

Oh, I'm so jealous!!! I can hardly wait until February!! I want to go NNOOOOWWW!!!! :rotfl:

Can anyone tell me if the "pool view" is sort of quiet when you are in your room with the balcony closed off? Just curious if there will be problems getting sleep when needed.
