 I have had a blast reading through this thread. It's making it really had to wait for when I leave. I'll be heading back to the AKL in 38 days (but whose counting? :teeth: ) My dh, dd and I stayed concierge in 2003 and had the most magical trip I could have even imagined. Well, since we last went we added to the family and she is now 2. With all the chaos a new child brings my oldest dd has been incredible. She is an amazing kid anyway but she's been so patient with the time that a new baby takes. So this trip is special. This is a Madie/Mommy trip. Just the two of us. We will be spending a week at the AKL (non-concierge this time :guilty: ) and I cannot wait.

I just wanted to jump in and introduce myself. So "Hi!"

Jennifer, oh, how fun!! I am sure this will be a trip will produce a million wonderful memories!

Okay, one more..... for now

I took about 30 pictures of our room-I like this one, through the shears of the balcony and out to the pool...makes me miss it so so much!

I can't tell from the pic but do the shears still have zebras and animals on them?

ME TOO...I was beginning to think I'd seen everything there is to see before we actually get there. Not so! Very good eye, brookeelizabeth!

It looks like something you'd eat at Jiko...or maybe in Italy :lmao:

My DD14 and I will be taking our second "girls only" trip to WDW next week. My DH and DS16 are not as in to Disney as we are. It's a really nice time to get know your daughter. I hope you have a great time and many more years of WDW trips!!

Nope, the shears were just plain. The chairs out on the balcony have Zebras on them though-they are really cool. I didn't get a close up of one of the chairs--which is really surprising considering how many pictures I took of the room!!

Thanks Ronald Duck! :teeth: The light fixtures are really awesome there, and I just couldn't get over the detail in everything. Even in the hallways, along the bottom, the runner looks like it's made of sticks. And the carpet in the hallways has little Mickey heads in it, but you really wouldn't notice at first glance because it looks so wild and African. It's just so cool!

Brookelizabeth....those were great pictures! I really like the one from your room with the shear curtain and sliding glass door.

Day 4 (part 1) of my trip report is up!
(brookelizabeth--I think you'll see a familiar pic!)

Yea! :cheer2:
I need to catch up on your report yet-I'm at work and don't have much time yet, but I HAD to hunt out the picture you spoke of.

Wasn't the tour fantastic? We want to go again! Your picture turned out great!

The number is 407-938-4755. Just a half-hour ago, I got a call back from Juanita, who confirmed the Sunset Safari is available for non-Concierge...but it's $215 per person instead of $150. We decided to skip it, since we're going to Jiko that night anyway. Of course, now I've just read RAVE reviews and I'm re-thinking it. Oh well...still time.

Have a safe escape from now-wintry "A-squared" (I'm a U of M Ph.D. so I'm allowed to call it that(<;)

WOW!!!!!! That is kinda a lot of money...not sure if I am going to do this now. I am def. going to eat at Jiko though...

Thanks!! That was one of those 'hurry we are leaving the room, snap one more picture' type things too! :)

RD--

Thanks for the number-- I may wait and try it once we get down there. While $300 would be in the budget, I think $430 is a bit too much. Laura's email was a bit hard to decipher, and the attachment seemed to be the old information.

I am so glad to be getting out of A2 tomorrow! And missing the terrible cold! Now if I could just get a good forecast for next week in Orlando, I would know what to pack!

What's your PhD in? (Mine's in Biochemistry, but from Wisconsin.)

OMG! The Segway tour was sooooo fun! I hear they'll let you try out the new models for a few minutes over in Innoventions, so we may have to stop by and try that! I wish they had some more tours with different places to go, because I would LOVE to do it again!

Interesting about the sheers, last time I stayed at AKL they were all lacy and had a pattern of zebras and other animals through them.

Hey, weather is my second-favorite hobby...right after Disney! Things really don't look bad at all for next week down there...tomorrow is the transition day between abnormally warm and humid (mid 80s today, low 80s tomorrow), but after that it will be SLIGHTLY cooler than normal (normal=75 degree high), with highs in the 60s but warming to the low-mid 70s by the end of the week. There may be some rain with the frontal passage tomorrow, but I don't see much (if any) rain after that (which is typical for December when it's a little cool). So pack for cool evenings, but otherwise you should be in great shape (especially relatively speaking ;) )

Mine's in Experimental Psychology. I'm not a Clinician but a Social Psychologist who studies the crazy things NORMAL people do (like spend hours on this board :teeth:

Yay! I love the weather too! Where do you go for reliable forecasts? I was looking at the weather channel and accuweather and weather underground, and the temps more than 10 difference, with rain % ranging from 0 or 10% to 40-50%! I like your forecast better, as that was what i was hoping for.

CLEARLY you need to develop a research proposal around DISboard-ers! Then you could get paid to read the boards all day... and maybe go down to Disney for some interviews! ;)
