Going for my b-day Jan 10 thru the 18th. Special present from DH but I get to do all the planning. Staying at AKL for the first time for three days in conceirge. Can someone please fill me in on what room request I might make?
We asked for a king size bed savannah view. These are a few of the things I have planned for those three days. I am doing the sunrise safari, culinary tour, Bomas for dinner. Also I have planned one entire day at the lodge starting that day with Bomas for breakfast. What other lodge activities have people done and have you liked them or not and why? Also do any of them require an advanced reservation? Thank you in advance for your input.

...personally, I'd ask for a king-bed Zebra Trail savannah room......you can also 'do' the Nigh-Vision' googles, located beyond the far end of the pool (to the left) - there is a public viewing area over there.....

Have a super trip and report in as soon as you get back!

Hey - thanks doll!
I'm not so good with the written word-
But I'll give it a whirl when I return and we'll see how it goes.

We'll be staying at AKL conierge level too. I also wanted to know about the activities and started this thread:

If anyone has any additional info, please feel free to add to it or respond on this thread. I'd love to hear about others' experiences too.

wallyb,

Your writing might not be too wordy, but I really enjoy your style. Have a great trip!

I've seen several notes mentioning zebra domes and Fridays. What is the significance of this?

Now it all makes sense, but why limit yourselves to just one day of the week:) Does the concierge lounge and/or Boma's usually feature ZD's as part of their dessert selection, or are they only there some days of the week? I know I can also find them at Mara.

Boma has zebra domes every night, but when I stayed AKL concierge for 10 nights I only saw them once in the lounge.

Another time I stayed for 4 nights and didn't see them at all in the lounge.

Hi Y'all! I got home last night from 6 glorious days at AKL!! I had a standard view booked and at check-in was told I had a "complimentary upgrade to savannah view"! OK, so when I saw where it was........... #3374 - I knew I wouldn't be seeing any animals from my balcony!! :joker: The room itself was nice so I wasn't too concerned. I set my bag in the room and headed to the parks. When I came back to AKL and made that L-O-N-G walk back to my room, that's when I decided I'd rather have ANY view as long as it was closer to the lobby!!

The CM's couldn't have been nicer and they were able to get my room changed. I still got my "upgrade" and had a very great, convenient location: #4219. :thumbsup2

There was no evidence of any construction and the Lodge was as beautiful as ever. I talked to a wonderful CM several evenings ago and she said she's been trying to peek into the DVC rooms (the ones way down on the end) but that there hasn't been any activity yet - the rooms are "empty".

I just read the beginning of your trip report-I'm so happy for you... :cloud9: I'm glad you went to WDW for your honeymoon since you should always follow your dream (I went to London on my honeymoon-some people thought I was mad...as London isn't necessarily thought of a bastion of romance but I had always wanted to go since I was 7.... :lovestruc )

Keep the report and photos coming...(I read Disney trip reports like some people follow American Idol...can't get enough... popcorn:: )

Cass-tried to send email to that individual about the green lanyards-no response...but that's ok (my 12 year old dd is the pin collector) cause I'll still be able to spot you if we cross paths in the lobby...

Has anyone heard of anyone else replacing the gift baskets business since Deb (?) went back to teaching?

BTW, I found really cute mini multi colored candy canes with Mickey & Friends on them at the CVS

Happy thoughts to all.... :tink:

Thanks PracPerfPatricia! I have oodles of pictures, I plan to post all the AKL ones here after my TR is done so everyone can see the beauty of the lodge.

I would LOVE to go to London! I bet that was incredibly romantic! :lovestruc And I know what you mean about the TR's, I'm becoming an addict!

Me too me too! (trip report addict)
That's why I wanted to write one for my last trip!
Now, if only I could get around to finishing it.... so many more stories to tell and pictures to post!

PracPerfPatricia, I'm sorry the lady who sold me the lanyards didn't get back to you :(
I wish I would have bought extra I would have given them to you no problem.

brookelizabeth & RachelTory~ I'm on my way to read your trip reports right now! Great upgrade RT :goodvibes
