Jambo savanna views

I'm booked at AKL for the first time ever in a studio at Jambo. Is it worth requesting a view of a specific savanna, or does it really matter since I know I have savanna view booked? I'm not too concerned about being close to the elevator or how long the hallways are or anything like that since this is part of a split stay, and I'm really only planning to do AK and enjoy the resort while I'm staying there. (Plus I own at BWV, I understand long hallways ;).) Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm just looking forward to some relaxing time on my balcony with some zebra domes and a jungle juice slushy from the Mara. :)

Most savanna views are fine but my preference and request for view at Jambo is usually "Arusha savanna view, along Zebra Trail, away from the lobby." Arusha is a very good savanna, Zebra Trail is the right side of the U-shaped building where the pool is, and when on that side we want to be not close to the lobby (rooms close to the lobby actually have views not as good as other areas). What you end up with if you get those requests is a room with a great view of the savanna that faces west and thus avoids blinding sun pouring into the room in the morning and allows pleasant sunset views.

I would ask for Arusha Savannah. More giraffes and zebras there.

These both sound like perfect reasons to request Arusha. Thanks for the input!

We asked for Arusha Savanna.

They placed us in a STANDARD ViEW Studio that had been RE-Designated from Savanna Virw to STD view due to ONLY Partial Savanna View.

We paid CASH for a 2-Nite Savanna View!!!!!!!,
Requesting the Arusha Savanna,

AND they DOWN-graded us to
STD view on the Inferior Uzima Savanna.

We . WILL. NEVER.EVER. Book .
Jambo House Savanna View,
EVER AGAIN!!!!!

Wow! I'm so sorry they did that to you. I didn't know there were re-designated standard view studios on the Uzima savannah.

Uzima Savannah has some exotic animals but does not have the popular ones, like zebras and giraffes. So they converted it to a standard view. The two large Savannahs are Sunset Savannah, which is shared with Kidani, and Arusha Savannah, on the other side of Jambo.

When did that happen? When I was there a few years ago, I stayed in a savannah view room on the Uzima savannah and saw giraffes. Frankly, I don't know what else I might have seen-for me it was a free upgrade from my reserved value studio, so I was just thrilled to see anything other than the pool.

We Stayed Uzima as well and had giraffes daily.

We saw giraffes daily on both of the trails, Kudo and Zebra and have had rooms on the Arusha or the Sunset Savannas. I think you have a pretty good chance of seeing giraffes from any of the savanna rooms. But there are times in the morning that animals are at the barns for their daily check up. It usually only lasts a couple of hours, but it might be the time you are viewing.

There are 4 savannas visible from AKV villas.
Pembe, the smallest @ approx. 4 acres is visible only from Kidani and will not have giraffes (the barn isn't tall enough for them.) But may have Okapi.
Sunset, the largest at approx. 18 acres, & can be seen from Kidani and Jambo - Kudu trail & parts of Ostrich trail. Has giraffe & for the last several years has had the most zebras because the herd of Hartman's Mt. zebras that are part of the breeding program have been there. Note, Sunset started out smaller and was enlarged when Kidani was built so old links may have an inaccurate size for it.
Arusha, visible from Kudu and Zebra trail in Jambo. Has giraffe and a couple of zebras. Approx. 11 acres. This is the savanna you see out the back of Jambo's lobby.
Uzima, visible from Zebra trail in Jambo. Also approx. 11 acres - but has a different layout than like sized Arusha, thus some perceive it to be smaller. This is the savanna you see from Jambo's pool area. Has giraffes and usually @ least a pair of zebras lately.
Be aware, they do move animals from savanna to savanna and to/from the park. So what you saw 5 years ago will have changed a bit. Gordon, my avatar, for example, was a bit of a juvenile delinquent and was moved from AK to AKL, and at AKL he moved from Uzima to the more 'secure' Arusha. I know the Hartman's zebra herd on Sunset was not there the first Wanyama I did - there was only one pair which has since grown to the small herd because AK/AKL is in the breeding program for the species and now a stallion and a female or two may even be housed for a bit on a subsection of Pembe, etc..
Since I own @ AKV I'm ok w/ whichever savanna I get staying @ Jambo as there's always next time. I am kind of hoping for Sunset for my next trip as I've had Arusha view a couple of times & Uzima view but have yet to get Sunset view :)
