Jambo or Kidani

I will be booking our 2012 vacation in a couple of months and am really considering AKV. We own at BWV so I may not even be able to get AK. But thought I would ask a couple of questions anyway.

1. We are traveling Easter Week 2012 (I know, but it is when we have to go every year). If I book at my home resort 11 months out, can I change it to another resort at 7 months (subject to availability of course)?

2. We would like to go to the AKV, do I decide if it is Jambo or Kidani, or is it what is available? I'm confused.

Thanks for the help. I'm not a newbie to DVC but it would be our first attempt to stay somewhere other than BWV.

Yes, book your home resort at the 11 month window and then call at the 7 month window to see if AK is available. Chances are that there will be availability.

Jambo has more ammenities right in the building, like more dining options, larger gift shop, etc. Kidani is a bit more quiet.

Have fun,

Robert

Jambo House and Kidani Village are booking categories within AKV. Jambo House is the only building that has the Value Villas and Concierge Level. Both buildings have Standard View and Savanna View Villas. If you are looking to book either the standard view or savanna view, let the CM at MS know if you have a preference to which building you want to stay at. You will know when the reservation is confirmed which building you are in and you will check-in at that location. You can use the amenities at either while staying at AKV.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate the quick responses.

Stayed in a 1-bedrooom in Jambo and have to say we didn't love the room. I just booked 1-bedroom in Kidani for my brother's family for the following reasons - second bathroom, sleeper chair (sleeps 5) and a separate tub/shower in the master.

The lack of dining options in Kidani can be a problem for some, though. The distance between the two resorts is too far for walking. (imo)

Seeing the animals is amazing!

If AKV is not available at 7-months use the waitlist. Enjoy.

Just a small to to say that you would be very unlikely to get either a value or concerrige villa at 7 months as these are mostly booked out at 9am on the 11th month. If you are not looking for either of these catagorises then I think you have a very good chance.
There will be AKV owners who want to swap into BWV at 7 months. Waitlist and call MS frequently if you are unsucsesfull on your first call.

We loved everything about Kidani except the quick service dining options. We were on the DDP and were really upset that we couldn't just hop downstairs to get a quick service meal. We'd have to load the family into our car or take the bus over to Jambo and that was really not optimal with kids.

You can walk from Kidani to Jambo, but at the time we were there, there was no walkway and you had to walk along the street. I hope they've either changed that or plan on changing that.
