Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

Has anyone used Room Service in the morning for breakfast? What options were available? How close to your expected delivery time did the food actually arrive? Is there an extra fee?
they charge the top gratuity right to your bill. you have no choice, but then when someone comes in and sets the table up all nice for you , welll hmmm you kinda feel presured to tip again

From their site: "In-room dining is available 24-hours daily. Choose from a variety of American favorites as well as specialty items particular to your Resort hotel. To place an order, press "Dining Options" on your in-room phone. An 18% gratuity, $3.00 delivery charge and 6.5% sales tax will apply to all delivery orders. A minimum order may apply"

Does anyone have a picture of the room service menu?
i do i need to loom for it, in posted it once last month

We are traveling to Orlando for a tech conference and staying at AKL!!
We usually stay value or mod, so I am very excited!

AKL check in Sat. May 6th staying 8 nights at the conference rate
then one night at Art of Animation Little Mermaid room for one night before we fly home Monday. 5/15

I have a reservation for Jiko on Sun May 7th,
but the new nighttime show at Animal Kingdom has me thinking of canceling.
Can we do a walk up for Jiko or Boma?

We are considering adding another teen to our trip. It looks like the Standard rooms at AKL only sleep 4. Are roll away beds offered?

No. Capacity for a standard room or studio at AK is 4 people. You would need to bump up to a one bedroom villa.

Quick question: My parents will be onsite guests (at an All Stars resort) but having dinner at Boma. We need to pick them up from their dinner, but we are not onsite guests. Do we just tell the guard when we enter that we are there to pick someone up from dinner? We won't have to pay to park, will we? (They will get to dinner using a bus from the park they visit that day, we just need to pick them up afterward.)
....you don't pay to park at a resort.

....in fact, I'd recommend for them [your parents] to request/get a parking pass from their resort. It's a printed 8-1/2 x 11 paper that states the name of the resort they are staying, which you simply put on your car's dashboard. This way, you can, not only visit another resort, but you won't have to pay for parking at a park should you decide to use your vehicle instead of the WDW transportation system....

We have a Pool View bunk bed room booked.
What floors are they on?
Which floor should I request?
Is there anything I should know about these rooms?
When I do online check-in, is there something I should request?
We have a bed rail request on our reservation for the bottom bunk.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm about 3.5 weeks out from my trip! I have booked a standard view room, and we are primarily going to participate in the Star Wars race weekend--so we will be going to bed early, and waking early. I know that "standard view" can include some pretty bad views-the only one I worry about would be a view of buses/transportation because of noise. My only options shown for online check in are:

Near lobby
Lower floor
Upper Floor
Near Elevator
Near Transportation
Near Paddock

I get to choose 2 of those. I'm thinking my best chances for a quiet room would be "Upper floor" and...? Not "near transportation"--right? What is the "paddock?"
I've also heard that some of the "standards views" have somewhat of a savanna view, just not a great one. Is there anything I can request that would make a "semi savanna view" more likely? Thanks!

Is there a place at AKL you can get breakfast pastries? We have an early morning flight on our checkout day. I thought we might purchase some pastries the day before so we can nosh on them on the way to the airport.

At Mara which is quick service restaurant. I believe they open 6am with bakery and 7am for breakfast.

The Mara had some good looking cheese danishes, muffins and some other goodies. They all looked good. I didn't cave in to try. I saved that for the Zebra domes.

We'll be staying in a DVC 2 bedroom for our next trip, myself and four teenagers (God help me). My son and his girlfriend (both 18), and my twin girls (both 15). It will be my son's girlfriend's first time at WDW.

The four of us have stayed in a 2 bedroom value at Jambo house before. Just wondering if we don't luck out and there's no value 2 bedrooms available if Kidani would be a better option for standard view over jambo.

I am considering a 1bdrm value over a studio Savannah. Have you been happy w the view from the value? I have never stayed at AKL

We lucked out and got a savannah view. There are views of the pool and the parking lot as well. Requests aren't taken, because of course everyone wants the same view.

Kidani 2 bedrooms have 3 bathrooms which I think would be a bonus with 3 teenage girls!
