Did the coffee maker have a standard filter basket? We are wanting to bring our own coffee and filters.

That IMO is a great idea, I like Joffrey’s coffee but those packs in the rooms were swill.

I can’t remember who, but I know someone asked me to report back about our standard rooms. We’re in standard rooms along the kudu trail. Ostrich and giraffe are under construction, so to the best of my understanding all standard rooms are renovated.

Been here a couple of days and there are very minimal signs of the construction. We are facing towards kidani and so the part of the ostrich trail we see from our balcony is being renovated, but no other areas of the resort appear to be under construction.

no problem and I’m glad you found the update!!

here’s a photo from our room, 4232. it’s a partial savannah view. all down the left, you can see the construction fence where they’re working on the ostrich trail. we’ve seen tons of animals in 2 days already.

Love the view Can't wait to be at AKL myself. It is such a gorgeous and unique hotel and the restaurants are all worth visiting

Here now, we have an amazing view but we’re down in Zazu, and I can’t express how long of a walk it is back to lobby and amenities. I would suggest requesting to be near the lobby. Can’t speak to the view from the other side of the lobby, but I think any of the Savannah view rooms on this side will be great views.

I know room location can’t be requested for this type so I’m trying to figure out what my odds are of getting the parking lot views.

they both look out onto the same savanna. The only advantage I can think of is that to the right of the lobby you do not have a chance of being placed on the small savanna. I would request that trail and close to lobby for the best views.

There are 18 Value Studios and they only exist in Jambo House. 10 of them are part of 2-bedroom lock-offs (studio & 1-bedroom w/interior connecting door). If someone reserves a Value 2-bedroom, there will be one less Value Studio available.

There are only 2 Value Studios (part of lock-offs) that will face the parking lot. All others will either face an alcove of the Sunset Savanna or overlook the Uzima Pool.

Yes, the "small savanna" is the Pembe. The main savanna at Kidani Village is the Sunset Savanna.

There are 4 sections to Kidani Village which are named: Pumba (redish), Rafiki (green), Timon (yellow) and Zazu (blue). Colors in ( ) correspond to colored sections on the map below.

Pumba is to the far left where the Pembe Savanna is. Rafiki would be between Pumba and the lobby. Zazu is to the far right (closest to Jambo House) with Timon between Zazu and the lobby.

I wouldn't want to be on the Pembe savanna. You likely wouldn't see Giraffes or zebras over there, but you would see antelope, cattle ect, and I believe the warthogs are still over there. IMO the best views are in the Timon section. They feed the giraffes from boxes attached to trees in that area.
