Resort Thread Jambo! Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE

We LOVE staying at AKL and have stayed there many times over our yearly trips. Last few trips we have tried out other DVC studios but we are happy to be headed back to Jambo house soon! The sounds, the smells, the vibe. We love it all. AK park the year it opened was our least fav park and we took a few years from 99 and on off from it. We have fallen in love with it and as of now its our #2 park after MK.

I am at 58 days too. First time staying at AKL and can't wait. I usually skip Animal Kingdom as it used to be my least favorite park but decided to try it again this time. My husband has never been to Animal Kingdom. I am hoping we love this lodge and enjoy Animal Kingdom.
I'm sure you will...

Maybe silly question for most but does anyone know if there is an up to date list of the Boma dinner rotation? I know the food varies each night, and was hoping to get a peek at a menu??

Doing our first stay at AKL in August. I had originally booked CSR, since we haven't stayed there yet. However, I got a good rate on a bounce back offer at AKL when we went to WDW in December. So glad I went ahead and booked AKL, since CSR will be in the thick of a major construction this summer. Plus, with Pandora opening, I think we will spend a lot of time at AK.

....I don't think that I've ever actually seen a menu, since the menu does change from night to night....and, YES, I've been disappointed when eating at Boma, that something wasn't at that particular buffet.....

....for our very first stay at AKL, we had originally booked a split stay, with the 2nd leg at Ft W. Well, needless to say, when we checked into AKL, and arrived at our rooms, I immediately returned to the front desk to change those ressies [we wound up staying at AKL for the entire trip!]

We are staying in October and I'm really excited. Can't spring for the savannah view but I still think we are incredibly lucky to be able to stay at AKL at all :)

Even non-savannah view rooms are worth it. The atmosphere and immersion of AKL is something everyone should experience at least once, it's like none other.

Sitting at Victoria Falls after a whole day at the parks and having a nice drink is something I'll always want to do. Now I just need to try the food at Falls, sounds like the menu has changed a lot to include more (like the Jiko burger).

How far were the elevators from your room? Was it to the right or left when you walked out of your room? Thanks
Made a right out of room and walked down 2 banks of rooms . At the end of that was the lobby (Above it) straight ahead. You then had to turn left and walk the length of the lobby until you saw elevators on the left. The rooms were on the semi-circle of the resort and the lounge on the far end of the U shape of the lobby section of the building.

Look at pix and see if that makes any sense. It's hard to describe lol.

(I took pix of those halls.)

Thank you. I couldn't tell from TP where the elevators were.

Thanks for all the helpful photos. My first AKL stay is coming up.

We're staying at All Star Music for our upcoming May trip, but can I join in anyway? I'm already daydreaming about returning to AKL for our next next trip (likely either Fall 2018 or even Spring 2020)

Why not take the bus from a park to akl and have lunch or dinner? . Then take a bus from there to your next park. If you want to go to your resort take a bus to ak park then transfer to AS bus.

Dd and I love to visit the resorts.

Oh don't worry, Sanaa and Boma are already booked

We'll be staying at AKL for the first time in a couple of weeks as part of a split stay. We got a great deal on AKL with the passholder rate for all but one night of our trip - we decided to add one night on at the beginning and booked BWV for that. We haven't stayed at either resort before but have visited both and are definitely more excited for the AKL portion of our stay. I have a feeling that I would make a similar resort change if we had booked BWV at the end of our trip instead of at the beginning!

Can you add me to the list? I have booked a standard view room from April 22 through the 29th.

This is a solo birthday trip for me. Originally I had booked at the CBR but when I did my 60 day online check-in, I got the email telling me about the closures of basically all of the services. So I was able to transfer my reservation to the AKL.
