PRE TRIP REPORT

Time for another installment of “Jaime on Vacation!” - which begs the question – “Vacation from WHAT???” I work at a small roofing company for people who, most of the time, treat me like the Princess I know I am. I’m not a bookkeeper, but I play one in the office. I make just enough, ok – almost enough money to keep a roof over our heads and food in our mouths AND take 2 trips a year to Disney. My kids are practically grown. I’m divorced, so I answer to no one but me. I guess I feel like what’s the point of living if you’re not doing something you love? And I love Disney!

Let me introduce this trip’s cast:

Jaime (me!), 38: knower of all paths around all Disney parades; able to leap Fast Pass lines in a single bound; unable to act normal around Tigger (gotta hug him!) and Pluto (always end up petting and scratching him!); 15th trip to WDW!

Yeah, I thought we'd start with this lovely shot - that way it can't get any worse!

Meggie, DD15: Stitch wanna-be; whirling dervish of video-taping; deep in her heart (after you get past all the eyeliner) a true believer of Disney magic; Jack Skellington’s girlfriend; inventor of Saturday “Mommy-Meggie Day” in our house; trier of any food you place in front of her (hence, her other name since she could stand in front of you with her mouth open at the sight of food - “Maggot”); 10th trip to the World.

Speaking of crappy pictures, lol! She's gonna kill me!

Ashley: DD’s friend 16: Ash-a-ley is how Meg pronounced it when they were tiny (they’ve been friends since they were 3!); The Dark Princess; stalker of Aladdin; proclaimer of “I’m not riding that if it messes up my hair!”; taker of 1 trip to WDW (and never got to see AK or EPCOT).

Well, why should it just be me and Meg that look stupid here?


We are spending 8 nights at Pop Century with the free dining plan (thank heavens – I love the dining plan, but Ash is such a picky eater – she will surely eat her body weight in mac ‘n cheese and chicken nuggets this trip, so it wouldn’t be worth it to pay for her on the DDP). We are hitting each park twice, with a break in the middle where we do other things. I’m expecting it to be quiet that week (we went last year the same week and I think our last day there were 35 people in EPCOT!) but we’ll see!

9 WEEKS TO GO: All plans are set, ADRs made (we got some great ones, I think!), the index cards with the schedule are up on the wall, and all of a sudden Meg doesn’t want to talk Disney anymore! I guess with everything planned, she’s not able to talk about it because there’s nothing left to do but wait.

6 WEEKS TO GO: Trip’s paid off!!! (Of course, next week rent is due – uh oh!) I managed to make a few schedule changes this week (turned Sci-Fi into something we pay for (thus eating less) and adding the Princess Breakfast in Norway). And Meg looked at the index cards on the wall and discovered that Kona Cafe had disappeared – neither of us remember WHEN it fell out of our plans, but it’s back. I’ll have to pay for it, but she gets the Goofy Toast off the kids’ menu, so it’s no big deal.

4 weeks to go: What a day I had yesterday! When I asked in the first paragraph of this report “What do I need a vacation from?” – the answer is YESTERDAY! Our cable broke, our Internet broke, and the car battery died. All in one day!!! Disney, take me away!!!!!!!!

I did 13 days in Disney in May, 2004, with both my DDs (then 16 & 13). They drove me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! I figured this time would be much better because Meghan & Ashley are the kind of best friends who NEVER fight. But I'm going to have to agree with you anyway - just the trip to Michael's with them to pick out paint was exhausting! They never fight, but they never shut up either!!!!! And they do this "voice" - it's really just a high pitched screech - oh, well. We'll still have a blast! (And I'll have extra Valium from the plane rides!)

That picture was taken right after Kali River Rapids last September. Those shorts/skirt never dried out that day, either. Man, was I chafed! (Sorry, TMI, I know!)

We'll be at Pop Century 09/02/06 - 09/10/06.

We'll (me,dh,ds2) be there at Pop also! Our dates are 9/4-9/11. Hope to run into you! You won't miss us, my ds2 is the cutest little boy with a great big show all you teeth smile, lime green mock-crocs, and a hat for every outfit! He'll be the kid at the water jets crying not to leave. (He does this at the local park every visit) Your dates also has us at MK on the same day 9/5. It is a Small World After All!

I shouldn't be too hard to spot either (see t-shirts pictured above! )

I also ONLY wear Crocs (probably pink or purple for the MK day) and will be trailing behind 2 teenagers going, "Stop it!!! Stop it!!! Stop it!!!" I don't know what they'll be doing, but I know I'll be saying those words A LOT!

Breakfast on our MK day (09/05/06) is at Kona Cafe at 7:30 (I know, I'm nuts!), lunch is at Casey's and dinner's at Cosmic Ray's. We'll probably go back to the pool in the afternoon.

Hey I know what you mean about bad days. OUr cable went down one whole Saturday, including the internet, and our 16 yr old daughter backed our Yukon, into our truck. So 2 vehicles are damaged. We don't want to turn it into insurance, because her premiums will skyrocket thru the roof.


Have a great time at WDW. Disneyshopping has some really neat t-shirts on clearance. I just bought a boat load of clothes. It was a little over $75, so I got free shipping, plus another 15% from the WDW site. T-shirts for $5,-$15 range.

I am so glad that you are doing a pre-trip report! I was going to do one, but chickened out.....(I also need to check out your trip report from last year so I can get an idea on the crowds, etc!) We will be there right after you (9/8-9/18) over-lapping a few days. I can't believe the time is almost here! I think my sister and I will be in the MK on the 9th too---the rest of my party will be arriving later that day. It's a girls only trip.

Have an awesome time! We will be right behind you, enjoying the free dining too!

6 Days Out & No One will Talk to Me.....

Yup. I'm being shunned. Probably rightly so. I've gone over to the Bad Place (NO! Not Universal! )

I have not turned off the Weather Channel in 3 days! Ernesto is freaking me out!

I'm packed. Sad, but true. Sadder - I've packed Build-a-Bear clothes for Pal Mickey!
