Yes, those two sought after pins from the POTC WDAC Convention in 2000 are being auctioned by Disney on Disney e-bay. They must have found one of each in some storage area. Check out the prices and the profit Disney is going to make on these.

You wanna see ridiculous profit, how about the PoTC movie prop medalliion on chain??? That one of a kind prop went for just under $7,000!!!

Not intending to be contradictory, the medalliion "is one of multiple identical character props worn and used by the heroine Elizabeth Swann" as listed in the auction.

I mention it because it makes it seem even more ridiculous that Disney could sell a few more and garner that type of profit. I agree, Susan, that the profit is nuts.

The write-up under one of the pins states it comes from the collection of a Howard Lowery, who has a rather large inventory of Disney memorabilia. Does this mean that Disney is auctioning the item off for him or that they bought the inventory? Curious....

I think Disney bouught much, or all, of the Lowery collection when the gallery closed several years ago. Howard Lowery was, and still is, one of the most respected names in Disneyana.

From the Disney Auction page:

Disney Auctions is privileged to offer this selection
from Howard Lowery's extensive inventory of
Disney memorabilia. A dealer of Disney animation
art and related items since the early 1970s, Mr.
Lowery has organized more than 50 auctions of
original Disney art, Disneyana and other
memorabilia. Today he offers items from his
inventory via the Internet while continuing to
produce public auctions on a limited basis.

So.......it seems that DA is auctioning off items for Mr. Lowery.
