Jaevhyn's MAW Pre-trip report 2/13-3/1/14 Trip Date

Hi my name is Maria. There are four of us in the family. My husband (Roland), son (Jaevhyn - 6 years old) and daughter (Jezrhyel - 5 years old). We will be going to WDW on 2/13/14 to 3/1/14 for my son's Make a wish trip and 7th birthday. We are from Hawaii and this is the first time we will be in Florida. We will be staying at GKTW 2/14/14 to 3/1/14 and we will be staying at the value disney resorts for the extended part of our trip.

Thank you.. Jaevhyn is really excited to go and spend his birthday there. He has been through a lot this week. Having his blood count being low and having a transfusion yesterday.

We got our flight itinerary just the other day. We leave on 2/14 at 4:24pm Hawaii time. Get to San Diego at 11:35pm. Have a 10 hour lay over then catch another plane bound for florida at 10:00 something San Diego time. We will arrive at Florida 5:50pm on 2/15. Didn't realized that it takes a whole day to travel to Florida.

Wow it sounds like you all are in for a long flight!!!

It ended up taking us over a day to get to my daughter's wish trip and we just flew from California, but there was mechanical issues with the plane.

Many of the shirts you see in the Pre-Trip reports are handmade. I have read that you could get some on the website called etsy, but I haven't bought or sold stuff their so I'm not quite sure how it works. Also I have seen some families make matching shirts by creating iron designs with their printer, but I haven't done this either. Sorry I'm not much help with this!!!

It ended up taking us over a day to get to my daughter's wish trip and we just flew from California, but there was mechanical issues with the plane.

I would be happy to share some tips with you!!!

Our #1 tip is keep in mind that Give Kids the World is a wonderful place full of great activities!! If we could do one thing differently we would have spent more time at Give Kids the World!! I mean we only got free Ice Cream once... come on that's pathetic!!!

Another important tip is if you want to go to all the parks you get free tickets to you will probably have to go to 2 parks in 1 day (unless you get more time in Florida than the standard time).

Tip 3 -- There are lots of really great restaurants but you need reservations for them, so I visited the food thread on the DIS and decided which restaurants we wanted to visit then scheduled reservations.

Tip 4 -- Give Kids the World suggested to us that we have breakfast before we leave and dinner when we get back since meals are free at Give Kids the World. That worked great for us.

Tip 5 -- Make a Plan -- Talk to everyone who is going to see what is on their must do list. Make a rough plan (that is flexible) which includes everyone must do's.

Tip 6 -- Read the Make a Wish Thread and Wish trip reports to use as resources.

Tip 7 -- Universal seems to really roll out the red carpet for many of the families who made Trip Reports (including my family) so save time for these parks if your family is interested in the attractions they have there.

Make A Wish and Give Kids the World really is on top of everything so even if you don't have lots of time to plan or read trip reports they will walk you through everything!!!

I second checking out Etsy. Another idea is to commission some artwork from someone (I dunno how well you navigate tumblr, but there's lots of commissionable artists there) and then print it out yourself and iron it on to shirts. =D

Lol I guess you are on the same boat as me with planning this magical trip..Im going crazy trying to plan out what to do for the two weeks we will be in florida. So far I got our hotel and car rental for our extended stay. Decided we will not be staying at the disney resort hotel anymore because i dont think we will be doing much disney stuff the second half of our trip. We decided to instead stay at holiday in express. Holiday inn express @ 3484 polynesian has a great rate for MAW. There are so many things to do in florida and it is so hard to decide.. Congratulations on your wish trip too.. yes the plane ride to Florida really sucks but because of that we get to have 8 days at GKTW. That's the good part about living so far away.

Received some pixie dust here a couple days ago.A friend was kind enough to design us a shirt and i just sent it off to be printed yesterday. He even designed a shirt for Jaevhyn to use for his bday.
