Jaded by the DIS!

Just started planning our first trip in 7 yrs. I've been playing on the disney site and ordered the DVD a while back. Yesterday we received Disney 'game on' snail mail. OOOH!! The air was thick with suspense and excitement as I peeled back the glue. Here we go....

wuh wah. I am looking that much talked about gift horse in the mouth! I have become jaded by everything I have learned on these boards the last few months.

Look at it as a free upgrade, that's what I did. I did go ahead and book my vacation so that I had the room that I wanted, so that when a better deal comes along I won't have to change resorts. However if a better deal doesn't make an appearance I will be staying off property

I understand this....normally you'd probably be psyched about ANY discount. The DIS is both a blessing and a curse. I love to be armed with a lot of information, however, my pre-DIS vacation planning was so much more carefree. I got on here while planning our Feb 2011 visit to CBR. I was pretty excited as this was our 1st mod (we have always stayed value in the past) but upon reading and reading on the Dis, I started to get VERY nervous about staying there...now, while it was not our fave resort and we probably won't chose to stay there again, it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the stuff I heard on here...and now in planning our July 2012 vist, we are staying deluxe for the first time and am finding myself paralyzed in regards to booking the Poly, which before the Dis would have been my top choice (I've wanted to stay there since I was 7). But we are booked at Beach Club and while I am very excited I kind of wish I had the innocence of the pre-Dis days.

exactly! It's a fine line between well informed and over informed but when there is so much information at your fingertips it's hard to cross that line!

Im new to the DIS and I book the Poly for June...SHould I be worruied??

Although there is a tremendous amount of information on these boards, there's also a lot of "smoke" being blown around. We hope to do a Poly stay someday ourselves. As for the BC, I have to admit, I was hooked from our first stay last year...so much so, that we are planning another stay this August. Whichever resort you end up at, I wish you a wonderful vacation!!!

Thank you! I actually switched back to the Poly...I, too, have quite a few friends who LOVE and I absolutely trust their judgement....it is my dream and DH really wants me to pick it for that reason, so I'm doing it!!! I am sure I would have loved BC too...another time I suppose...

Oh!!! I just noticed we are neighbors!!! LOL
