Jacksonville to HHI... Jax Zoo????

Airfares to SAV are over $350 per person so we decided to be cheap and are flying into Jacksonville, for under $200 pp.... Mapquest says it is about a 3 hour drive along the coast.... is the Construction along the route??

Also, our flight gets in around 1... we were thinking about hitting the Zoo for a couple of hours then driving up to HHI.... figure the kids would nap onthe drive, if we wear them out at the Zoo...

Anyone been to the Zoo in Jacksonville??? Other thoughts on things to do in Jax for a couple of hours??

On our return flight, we are driving back to Jacksonvile the night before (wickedly early fight the next morning) so we would like a hotel close to the airport, yet around some decent places to eat... lol

Any thoughts???

I don't know about the zoo---but it sounds like you are doing a great job making lemonade! By any chance, did you look into flying into Charleston instead? If you can switch over for the same price, the drive time would be a lot less.

No non stops from Chicago to Charleston.... and most are plane changes... UGH not fun with 3 kids. Plus... the flights are also big money.... Only United flies non stop from here to SAV....

And we dont think of this as lemonaide.... it is an adventure!!!! Our kids are seasoned travelers, so I am not really worried about anything... just seeking information....

I'd skip Jax and drive right up to Savannah. Savannah is a cool town to just drive around or walk down by the river. Much more interesting than Jacksonville. Plus it will break up your drive.
