I've seen fire and I've seen rain :(

I was joking with my boys after they saw the fire report on the news that it was all Aunt Kim's fault. She was there last week with her family and left on Friday; we go on the 21st. She just had to ruin it before I could get there :rotfl:

Rain can be a blessing during peak times. All the weenies head back to the hotel and crowds are greatly reduced. Wear waterproof shoes, put on those ponchos and...CHARGE!!!! :sunny:

We were having breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse yesterday morning and our waitress told us that AK had shut down for the day because of the smoke. It was terribly thick at 10AM, you could barely breathe outside. :confused3

I hope things clear up (smoke and weather) and that you have a great vacation!

You guys have really made it sound good for it to rain! I hope it rains when I'm there!!!!!!!!!!!

And remember, when it is pouring rain and you are huddled in your ponch in a (hopefully) shorter line, ask the CM at the entrance to EVERY ride, "Do you get wet on this ride?" :)

We really need the rain. But I would not count on the rain cooling things off or making it less humid. But if you are going to be here, enjoy the warm tropical breeze.

i live down in ft lauderdale and were getting some of the storm now, and its truely not that bad. It'll rain for 10 mins then be clear for a half hour to an hour then a little more rain. Also there is a great breeze, and it will probly keep park crowds down for you guys.

At this point due to the fires, rain would be a blessing. Just bring the ponchos. :thumbsup2

I will be leaving tommorrow morning and checked the news and weather. Fires raging close to epcot and tons of rain coming from the tropical depression. This figures. I booked my trip six months ago and mother nature waits until this week to release her fury.

The fire is actually MUCH closer to AK. You can smell it at the AKL, AK, CSR, and Epcot resort areas. Once we entered Epcot we didn't smell it, until later in teh evening when teh wind shifted. There was definitely a haze from it over the entire SW portion of WDW property.

I can smell it at my home 12 miles away as the crow flies, and had to take a very roundabout way to Epcot yesterday.

That said, TS Alberto should put out all the muck fires and give us enough rain to stop them for the rest of the season. It's not a hurricane, highly unlikely to become one, and should pass within a few days. We're getting very outer bands now. That means we get drenching rain for about 20 minutes, then it's just overcast for a couple hours. No real wind.

I'm at the world right now. There is a lot less smoke in the air this morning and it looks pretty clear. Yesterday it was very smokey from fires. One was west of AK and the other was near Epcot. Epcot closed down early in the evening and buses could not get in. Everyone had to take the monorail to TTK to get a bus the their hotels. The rain only lasted for a little while, but it DUMPED! Too bad it wasn't raining on the fires!

Huh? I was at Epcot yesterday, I left right about the time Illuminations began. The smoke was just a haze, and the park didn't close early. In fact my check from Chef's De France is time stamped 20:46, in other words 8:46 PM. And they certainly weren't herding people out.

We're leaving on June 23rd and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will be good! Hope it clears up for everyone that is going next week too! We've been before at this same time of year and had only afternoon showers, which was a welcome relief to the heat. Remember there is still a lot to do, even when it's raining, so don't let that slow you down....Enjoy!!!
