I've read the FAQ, but please tell me why I'm going to like CBR!

If you'll look at my signature, you'll probably figure out that POR (especially back when it was Dixie Landings) is our favorite resort. We also love the WL and were lucky enough to rent DVC points for a VWL stay last fall.

We have made a snap decision to take advantage of some holiday time for a 3-night quick trip to WDW over Memorial Day. DU got us a good rate at what the agent thought would be POR, but Disney ended up putting us at CBR instead.

At first, I had the nice DU agent keep checking POR, but then decided, with all the uproar associated with the POFQ/POR rennovation, we'd better just stick with CBR so we'd have a better chance of getting the king bed room we requested.

PLEASE CONVINCE ME THAT IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY. I know that sounds kind of drastic, but a few years ago there were a LOT of negative CBR threads - mostly regarding condition of the rooms and other things that I don't remember specifically because I didn't think I'd ever stay there.

What will we like at CBR? If it's your favorite - why?:D

Thanks!

My first stay at CBR was last January and I totally fell in love with it. The rooms have all been refurbished over the last year or two so there's no problem there. We were in Martinique 26 and it was a perfect spot. Outside our door was a white sand beach with lounge chairs and hammocks. Close by was the main pool, food court, etc. with a quiet pool in back of our section. At night just before Illuminations, we'd go out, find a chair and watch Illuminations from the beach (well, the higher fireworks). Busses were constant, even though there are 7 bus stops, it's no more than POR (time-wise).

Will hopefully be back there one day!!! Enjoy!!!! :smooth:

PS: They also have boat and bike rentals there!!!

I am a POR fan myself but stayed at CBR a couple of years back in January. I had no problems at all. Although I prefer the theming at POR, I would have no problem staying at CBR again. I think you will be fine. :)

We found POR to be more laid back and relaxing, and CBR to be more festive and exciting in theme. We liked them about equally well.

I recommend the buildings just across the bridge from OPR. They are close enough to everything, but still reasonably quiet.

Don't worry, you'll love this place!

I agree with DisneyVillain....the buildings right over the bridge are, in my opinion, "prime location". They are far enough from Old Port Royale & the food court that you won't have strangers wandering by your door all day & night attempting to refill their mugs, but close enough to enjoy a quick & delightful stroll across the bridge to get to the hub.

We usually stay in Jamaica or Aruba. Both have incredibly nice "quiet pools" where you can relax in peace.

As I'm sure you know, this resort was recently refurbished, so all of the rooms are fresh and new. In addition, I hear the new restaurant is great!

After staying at ASMu and YC for the past two trips, I'm really looking forward to returning to my 'WDW Home' at CBR. I don't know if it's because it was the first Disney Resort we stayed in or what, but it's my favorite. It didn't quite feel like a complete Disney trip when I didn't stay there.

We've always found our rooms in great condition and I prefer the layout of the resort to the others I've stayed at (in regards to the food court/bus stop/pool.)

I give it a big thumbs up!
