I've never even been to WDW, and I'm already planning my second trip there.

I'm a planner, can you tell? Every time I talk to my mom about my trip this June, she says to be careful of alligators. For my next trip my dream is to stay at a deluxe resort, but might settle for a moderate. Since the little boy was killed by an alligator last June at GF, have ALL the Disney resorts put up barriers by the water? Are they permanent or temporary? I've seen a lot of new and old pictures of the resorts on TripAdvisor, and I see some photos of barriers.

I can't speak for ALL of the resorts, but I do know that Poly, GF & BC/YC all have rocks and fencing (themed).

Just so you know, the barriers are to make it difficult for guests to get in the water; they won't keep the gators in.
