I've had it with replacing light bulbs, have a question.

It seems like I am constantly replacing light bulbs.

They will often go out when I turn the light on. This is after only a month or two of use.

I buy light bulbs a dozen at a time. I've never had to replace so many in all my life.

We have had electricians out to the house and they said that everything is fine.

Any ideas what may be causing these lights to constantly burn out?

Maybe they are making light bulbs differently nowadays....because I too, have noticed that I am constantly changing bulbs...infact, just 2 yesterday and I thought the same thing!!!

Almost all lightbulbs have a rating of 120V, but not all of them. I had a lightbulb that was constantly burning out and an electrician gave me a 130V bulb. Five years after it was installed, it was still burning bright.

Something to consider.

10 years ago I bought 4 low energy fluorescent light bulbs for my lamps that I used the most, and in the those 10 years I haven't had to replace them yet. They coast more than a normal light bulb but if you figure in the coast of replacement over 10 years I think I'm ahead. Also I've noticed the price has come down in years. Well worth the money. I have since replaced most of my light with them, except for the outdoor light.

We had the same problem and switched to halogen bulbs.Got a big pack at SAMs for a very reasonable price. That was a year ago and not one has burned out.

Certain lamps and fixtures that I turn off and on constantly wear out the fastest. I have a two table lamps, two basement overhead lights with pull-chains and a light above my sink that are always popping when we turn them on one too many times. I think it's the store brand bulbs I bought most recently. GE bulbs seem to last longer, but I haven't actually time to see if they are better, worse or just as good.

Sadly with lightbulbs, the old addage "you get what you pay for" is too true. I recommend GE, or going flourescent...

I have been using GE bulbs.

I thought it might be an indication of something wrong electrically but the electrician said we were fine.

My record was 7 burnt out bulbs in one day.

It wasn't even funny after the first 3...I was cursed...every light switch I hit, the bulb blew! (And of course I didn't have enough spares!)

I too used GE...wierd...

I personally don't like halogen...bothers my eyes...so I just deal with replacing bulbs (although, knock on wood...we've been in our new house 5 months next week and I haven't replaced ONE bulb yet.)

You know 3 bulbs just heard my type that and they are itchin' to blow now...

Funny. I have absolutely no luck with the flourescent bulbs. They burn out almost as quickly as the incandescents. I'm waiting for while LED lightbulbs. Maybe they will last longer for all of us.
