I've had it with DS's Student Teacher

Zero Tolerance Policy reminded me of when my DS drew a great picture of Wile Coyote (sp?) in art class a few years ago. He had him holding a big stick of dynamite. Art teacher wrote on it "next time draw it without the dynamite" We all grew up with that cartoon, sure I've been tempted to drop an anvil on someone's head....but I never did it!!!:D

You should definitely talk to the regular teacher. This is the time when the student teacher is learning to teach so it's important she learns correctly. If she wants to be a good teacher, she'll probably welcome the constructive feedback.

As far as the hugging goes, they really do make a big deal out of it in class. The guys in our teaching group were told not to do it and even the women were discouraged. It has the potential to get them in real trouble. Of the four guys in our student teaching block, one said he'd do it anyway as long as other people were around and the other three weren't going to do it at all.

DD's teacher (1st grade) has a stamp that states "Please Be Neat". At our parent-teacher night she showed it to all of us and said to be prepared to see it a lot. She also said she stresses neatness and penmanship with the children because if you can't read it or figure out that this particular line is the answer, then she can't give you credit for that answer.

And there is no hugging at her school. It's been hard for DD to adjust coming from a school with lots of affection between teachers and students. The two reasons given for the policy were sexual abuse/harrassment issues and health (specifically lice transmission).
