It's not a New Years Resolution, I stopped watching television a little over a year ago. I'm not fanatic about it, I still have 2 TVs in the house. DDs still watch a few PBS shows and DH watches the news. However, my old habit of turning on the tube once the kids were in bed and just vegetating in front of whatever was on for 2 to 3 hours each evening is long gone!
What do I do instead? I spend more time in our bedtime routine with our 2 DDs, playing, talking, and reading. After they are in bed, I mostly read and talk to DH. I used to complain that I never had time to read, now I read several books a week.
I've also stopped listening to the radio during my commute to and from work. I've come to enjoy the solitude and relative silence. If I try to listen to the radio now, the constant inane chatter of the DJ's gets on my nerves and I turn it off again.
Has anyone else kicked the plug-in drug?

I do tend to spend more time with the family but they are still hooked on the tube. I'm thinking of starting a family night at home where TV is banned and we spend time playing a game together.
