To train driver at The Zoo!!!
I got a phone call yesterday (Friday) asking if I could come in to train some more because I'm on my own on Sunday morning.

I just got my script on Wednesday and was just getting "comfortable" with the hoofstock on the preserve. I then find out that I just better be ready because Sunday is it. I did to 5 train rides with my trainer Desiree to really get the feel for it. I didn't talk about a few of the hoofstock (hoofstock=Scimatar Horned Orynx, Elands, Sitantungas, Axis Deer, Fallow Deer, Wildebeast, Blackbuck Antelope, Etc, etc) only for the simple reason I have trouble telling two of them from a distance. Fallow and Axis deer are very similar in their patterns and our preserve is huge so unless the are close I cannot tell them apart. One of the other train drivers told me I did much better than he did on his first day and that made me feel really good. Some of the animals are a breeze for me, such as the elephants, camels, ostriches, pygmy hippos, rhino, wild dogs, alligators, tapirs, gorillas, chimps, and the african wild dogs. So much to tell about them, but also so much fun.
So today I've been playing online and researching the hoofstock just a tad bit more. I left my script at The Zoo
, a lot of good it does me there, but I'll have about an hour before the first train ride tomorrow to look it over and I also have about 10-15 minutes between each train ride to keep it fresh in my mind. I'll be by myself til about noon tomorrow until Thomas the other train driver comes in. There's no better time to learn than when I'm on my own, so I'm nervous but excited.
Well just wanted to share my good news. I should eat now. I've been awake since 8:30 and haven't eaten a thing.
Later,
Denise
