back to Boeing, that is!!!! I got my certified letter today from Boeing. It will be 5 years in December that I got laid off, so I had pretty much given up hope of going back. I will be 2nd shift(not great, but better than 3rd!) at their Auburn plant, which is about 10 minutes from home! The pay is excellent, right in line with what I would of been making with no lay off. I assume I will be doing the same job as before(assist mechanics with parts, inventory, blue prints, etc.) but don't know for sure. I have paperwork to fill out and send back. They then process it(2-3 weeks) and set me up with orientation. I'm guessing maybe a month tops till I'm back! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

5 years since December? You are certainly resilient!

My MIL worked for Boeing for over 20 years, her (now) deceased dh for over 15, my BIL for about 5 years, and my dh left in 1997 to go "jobshopping." They all worked in Renton or Everett.... Anyway, I definitely know how it is in regards to layoffs.

It's a pretty much "no-brainer" for me. Do I stay at Barnes & Noble(even though I love it) for 8.25/hour working 0-20 hours a week or go back to Boeing and make 20.65/hour plus .75/hour shift differential for 40+ hours a week with paid time off at the holidays, full benefits, etc.?

Congrats to you!!! My mom worked for McDonnell-Douglas and was laid off shortly after Boeing took over. That was about 5-6 years ago.

Yeah!! My BIL works for Boeing... he is an engineer. He some how missed all of the layoffs.

I just spoke with the pre-employment nurse and we went over my health history and she has cleared me for work. They still say you shouldn't tell your current employer yet, until background check is done. I guess that is to make sure you didn't become a foreign subvervise or something!
So, one step closer!!!!
