Wow I hadn't really realised how long it's been since I've been on the boards , but oh my days , I need to get back on here if only to take my mind off things.

Long story short:

I've been complaining about damp in our bungalow since 2010 , and I've kept getting fobbed off and basically ignored , by our Housing association,

My husbands carer returned to work after nearly a year off and was shocked at how bad it had gotten so he decided to help us get it sorted.

The Housing association have been out and have now agreed we do have a problem :confused3 ....

great you might think???

But NO! we have been told that it has been caused by some sort of leak or water under the floor , and they now have to take up all of the floors , rip the bathroom and kitchen out and take all the plaster off of the walls!

We have to move out while they do this , and we will only know how long it will take to dry out and fix once the floors are up .

It could be up to 6 months !

To make life that little bit harder , as some of you may know my Husband has Cerebral Palsy and uses a large electric wheelchair ,and we need major adaptions done to any property we live in .

Properties like ours are like god dust and we have not seen another one like ours in our area come up for 4 years!

We are definitely going to be in our temporary accommodation, during the time of our WDW trip in Sept/Oct , and by the looks of it be there for Xmas too!

This is an ironic mirroring of our 2011 trip when, our friend who is coming with us Thom's house had the same problem from a leaky pipe and had to co-ordinate building work here in Cornwall from our Hotel room!

I'm off to bury my head in some trip reports for a while , I need my brain to switch off for a bit from all this stress! :headache: :worried: :furious:

Oh, no! Sounds awful. But at least they are getting things sorted at last. Have they given you a start date yet? Hopefully it will all be straightforward and you will be home again for Christmas.

No Start date as yet as we have to have found a new temporary home, had that one adapted and be moved in before then can give us one :( .

I have found a property that looks promising on our housing associations website , on their 'to let' section , so I hope they will consider moving us there temporarily , as the only thing they have offered us so far is a first floor one bed flat , which to be honest will be useless to us but we are going to look at it anyway to point out what we need in a property.

What a nightmare  but at least they're finally taking you seriously.

Will keep fingers crossed that the temporary property you've found works out for you. :wizard:

What an absolute nightmare. I hope that they find you suitable temporary accommodation soon and that the whole issue gets resolved swiftly.

So sorry to hear of all your trouble :sad1::sad1:

Hope you manage to find something that's suitable for yours & DH needs ASAP

Hmm well it turns out they didn't consider the bungalow I liked as they said it wasn't suitable for us , without us seeing it, but they want us to view a first floor flat with a normal bathroom , which from the dimensions on the internet my DH won't even fit his chair into , not to mention he can't even use a normal bath.

But I think we have to play their game for a little while, jump through the hoops they put up, and be seen to be playing along as we don't want to do anything to wind them up or to look like we aren't trying . I'm quite used to the routine of form filling and constant phone calls to get the simplest thing.

until they work out what we need, and what they can offer us, it may be a bit tricky but once they do I'm sure it will be a smoother process.

For the moment I'm looking forward to my double digit dance in a couple of weeks :D and joining in with Thom's single digit dance as he leaves in a week :D
