I've been busy making some things for the Epcot FAQs thread.
Look on these posts and let me know how the new things look:
Post #16, Living with the Land, Soarin and Circle of Life
Post #17 ImageWorks

(There is a key to tell what the icons mean in post #3 on page 1 of that thread).

It is wonderful Sue!! Thank you so much for all the hard work you put in to showing how accessible things can be at WDW.

Thanks.
Were you able to read them?

I didn't want to spend time making any more unless I knew these worked.

Wow! You have been busy. I can read them fine (and see the great illustrations!)

Thanks again for all you do!

They're great Sue. I could read everything clearly.

Just wondering about the Journey into Imagination with Figment: is it an actual ride? I noticed that one of the sections mentions scents. Does anyone know what sort of scents and if someone with severe perfume type allergies should try this ride? The person coming with us has a lot of problem with that sort of thing. It would be good to know that ahead of time-post this in a more appropriate place if it doesn't belong here. Thanks

Yes, it is a ride.
I'm going to re-do the picture for Journey into Imagination and I will add more information.
There is only one scent on that ride. You will have plenty of warning ahead of time to prepare. I don't like the particular scent, so I take a deep breath before it is coming. To avoid spoilers, I will write it in white. Just click on your mouse and run your cursor over it; you will be able to read it.
Figment has a machine like a gambling machine where you win if all 3 pictures match. You 'win' skunk scent and have time to prepare between when the skunk pictures appear and the odor starts.

Excellent job as always!:thumbsup2 Please keep doing these they are great! On the land ride would you say a electeic wheelchair would be able to fit or only manual?

A lot would depend on how sharply you can turn. There is not much room there. If you have one that looks like it will not turn sharply, you may have to demonstrate that you are able to turn it precisely in a small space.
I know at least one poster (eternaldisneyfan) has ridden it with her power wheelchair.

My DD has only been to WDW with her manual wheelchair. The CM sometimes has to 'manhandle' it a bit to get on the Land ride to get it turned. You have to come down the small ramp and while you are still on the ramp, you need to make a 90 turn. My DD's old power wheelchair (a rear wheel drive Invacare) would probably not have made it. Her new power wheelchair is an Invacare mid wheel drive and can turn in a much smaller space. BUT, it also can climb a 3 inch curb and when it runs up against any obstacle, it tries to climb it. So I am a little concerned about going off the ramp.

Sue,

This is high quality work. I have done a lot of technical writing and reviewing and this is much better than many professional’s work.

I know how much time this takes so thank you for the many hours of effort.

The sensory information was helpful for the Sensory/Social disability community.

When you get the Physical disability entries completed it would be great to have some indication for those who need to know about what is available for “hidden disabilities” (Social, tactile sensory sensitivities etc) as far as availability of alternate waiting areas (inside or outside) or other accommodations for those who the lines are not possible to tolerate. I know this would have to be done somewhat cryptically to limit the potential for abuse so something a simple a symbol indicators for outside alternate, inside alternate, other alternate and no alternate would be helpful with a little locating note.

Wow! That's looking great Sue! Very informative and concise :thumbsup2

Thank you for all the hard work you've been putting into these FAQ threads, they will be a great help to first timers and old pros alike! :goodvibes

Thanks for the praise.
I'm a nurse with a background in patient education and have taken design courses in college. I've also done tons of Powerpoint presentations, so I pretty much know what I am able to do and how to do it.
The stuff on those pictures are pretty much things things I know are basic enough that they won't change and also basic enough that they will be useful to most people.

I think it would be possible to come up with some symbol indicator like you mentioned (and if it was part of a 'picture' like the ones I posted, it would not show up on searches). The one concern I have is that alternate entrances seem to be somewhat changeable, based on conditions at the time. So, I would hate to give someone information that may not the correct information for that day at that time.
After I complete one of those pictures for each attraction at Epcot, I will come back and edit the information that is written in the post for each attraction. I thought that would be where I would put some of the more specific information like you are talking about.
I'm very open to suggestion though. Since I don't know everything that would be helpful to every person's situation, I welcome suggestions of what people might be useful to have.

It is reassuring to actually see the ride vehicles. Also for people with limitations your information is a godsend. Having been in an ECV and having had to push a heffalump aka mother up and down ramps and uneven surfaces boy is it nice to know about those things.

I think I am getting to that point that I do not trust anything anyone says in relation to my limitations. Just a little step up might mean a major pain for me. I do not like round tables either. It is not scary translates to some people as panic attacks or a kid melting down.

Great job and keep up the work. I wish Disney sites were done as well as you did up this site. Thank you.

Thanks Sue, great work.:yay: :thumbsup2

If I had never been, it would be wonderful to see those pics and know what to expect. Having been many times, but only once in a w/c, it really helps me know more. I think the pics alone may help those with anxiety issues to ease the "unknowing".
