:p Saving for WDW has made me a change-nut! Any where I see/find a penny I snatch it up and put it in our change can (it was a big jar until it broke last year before our trip :sad2: ). We saved $319 in two years. Now we are going to cash in what we have in one year and hope to have at least $116 for our rental car and then any left overs for food! We have less than two months to go! I was even cleaning out an old jewlery box and found two pennies and deposited them in the can! See a penny pick it up, put it in your Disney change cup!!!!

Anyone else qualify as a change-nut like me????

We are relatively new change nuts. We started collecting our change in July last year for our New Year's Eve trip to WDW. We had no idea how much we had saved until we took it to our bank and dropped it in the machine. I would have been happy with $50.

It turns out that we saved $131!!! :Pinkbounc Imagine the look on our faces!

Anyway, we are now totally converted. As soon as we returned from our trip, we began saving for our next trip. We probably have close to $100 already and we are leaving in just 20 days!

:guilty: Ohhh! That is what my problem is! :rotfl2: Oh yes, I am a change nut. And a $1.00 bill nut. Picking pennies up, yup that is me. Sometimes you can even find a dime! :cool1: However I roll mine a little at a time, change them into bills and stuff them in my little envelopes. I also purchase items with bills. That way I can get change AND $1.00 bills back! come back home and get out my envelopes to put the bills in. Then count how much is in there and how much more I need to save before I can seal another one. Now that I see it in black and white it does make me look a little  Please tell me there are more of me's out there who are as obsessed to have cash only vacations.......

I steal my husband's at the end of every day when he empties the pocket of his suit. He hasn't caught on yet since I always leave a penny or two.

I love doing this! We cash our change in every April to help pay for our campsite at Ft. Wilderness in June. I just took ours to the bank Monday and had $760.50! ($300.50 was actual change, the rest in paper dollars) That's enough to pay for 2 weeks with our discount!

:confused3 Me a change nut? :guilty: Guilty as charged. It really bugs me when I pay for something that is maybe $4.02 and the cashier starts digging through her pockets for 2 cents. Sometimes I try to tell them I actually like change but one day a crabby cashier told me she didn't like having to count out 98 cents. Not sure if she was being lazy or just ignorant.
Right now I have a Coke bottle bank full, 1 Bunny Money bank full and starting on a Donald bank.

ETA I also seem to be now collecting children's coin banks. :cool1:

I've been a change nut since my DD was a baby. I started saving all my change, rolling it and depositing it in the bank when she was just under a year old. We didn't really have enough $$ to set anything aside for college (I thought). By the time she graduated high school that account was over $12,000!!!

Guilty! DH hides his change from me! I let it add up in my change tub and cash it in all at once, I love to see how much it's added up to! That's one of the best tips I've gotten from these boards. :sunny:

I just found a penny at the gym and my eyes lit up and I quickly grabbed it! Every penny counts...

Guilty! I have no problem snatching coins off the ground in stores, parking lots wherever. My Dh acts likes he doesn't have a clue who I am! Don't care if it's pennies, dimes nickles. It all adds up. (But he sure doesn't mind it when I cash it in to use on our trips) For this trip next month I just cashed in a little over 600.00  :cheer2:

I am also a change nut and my DH knows it so he never takes his change out of his pockets around me. I also deposit all the ones I get and sometimes a 5 or a 10. Even though we go to WDW often we take a big trip every year were we go all out and that is when I use my change. Last Aug I had a little over 400.00 sasved and ready to find out what I have this year for the June trip.

I use to love saving my change until my DS started his piggy bank. I still try to stash some away when I can, but between my DS and DH I never have much :confused3 :sad2: . I do pick up change from the floor or get my son to do it so people don't look at me like I'm poor :rotfl: I think soon I will start again and save for next years trip. I only have 17 more days until this years trip :earboy2:

Jennifer :sunny:

here at Germany are no bills less than 5€, and the coins (1cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20cent, 50 cent, 1€ and 2€) have different backsites at all the particepating countries. I save every *foreign* currency at a money box that can count what you put in. At the moment ...after 2 month of saving there are almost 56€ = 70$ in. When the box is full I´ll put them on my Amex traveller cheque card for our next WDW vacation (hopefully next April)

The thing that REALLY bothers my DH is when I pick up discarded lottery tickets in the parking lot of a store. The percentage of time the card was actually a winner is pretty high. I do it on the assumption that I am smarter than the dumbest lottery player and the smartest lottery players have sense enough to throw away their garbage in the trash can and playing those odds has paid off! I've found tickets where only one of 5 games had been scratched. Many where it required the player add up their hand to see if they beat the house....back to the intelligence thing...they often didn't add right and threw away a winner. All that goes into my vacation bucket.

....You want to see a DH acting like they don't know you....pick up used lottery tickets outside the EZ-IN. :earseek:

Ok, I do the change but I also just started to do something a little bit more  I think.

I work on the third floor of a bank. The branch is on my way out every night so before I go on the elevator to leave for the night, I empty my pockets and purse of any change and dollar bills and put them in my passbook account. I am also going to put any checks from stock dividends, rebates and any expense checks that I get (I drive a lot for work too) in that account.

I started the account on April 20th and I have $194.50 so far! My change Tupperware isn't empty yet, I still need to roll some more!

WDW in December! WOOHOO! :cool1: :cheer2: :cool1: :earsboy:

:confused3 :listen: Ok, see that is how dumb I am. I have never picked up a lottery ticket and see them all the time at a certain store. Well ofcourse they are on the ground because they are loosers. Humm, oh boy my poor DH As it is now I will stop in my tracks to pcik up change and he always grunts. The conversation goes something like this... Me: hey it is a ..., DH: yes it is only a ... ME: for the Disney fund DH: oh OK :confused3 :rotfl:

Headed out shortly to get some groceries, wish me luck :wizard: on finding some change and/or coming home with some for the jar or even better my little envelopes  :Pinkbounc :cool1: :cheer2:

Yep I sure do pick up change on the ground. Heck yesterday I found 20 cents in the vending machine.

Change nut in deed!! Just found $.85 :cool1: in the car while DH was in a fish store. He has alot of pennies in there also that I need to get out. ;) DH now checks his pockets of jeans for any change. That way when I do laundry, I don't get it. LOL!!!

I made my DH stop at a convenience store on the way to the airport when we left WDW because I'd picked up 2 lottery tickets. Won two dollars on one and wanted to cash it in for the next vacation. ~~If looks could kill~~

I frisk my dh for change every night. ;)

He says it amazes him that I just *know* when he has change in his pocket, even if it's just two coins rubbing together. I tell him it's a gift. :teeth:
