I got home from my works Christmas Do on Friday at teatime, and was told that we all had somewhere to go. So off we set in the car (DH, DD and me), me not having a clue where we were going. A short time into our journery, DH told me that I was going to pick my birthday present. He then told DD that she could tell me what it was going to be. 'You're going to get a C A T, Mummy!!!' Our neighbours, who have recently moved, had a gorgeous black cat called Teddy, who was nearly always sitting on our front door step when we came home. I have been missing him a bit, so DH decided I should have one of my own. He took me to a rehoming centre, called Rainbow Rescue Centre, and it was so difficult to pick one cat from all they had there, so we ended up with, not one, but 2 absolutely beautiful tortoise shell cats called Poppy and Mabel.

They have settled into our home no problem, each with their own very distinct personality. Poppy likes to be close to you all the time, and cries if she's not sure which room you are in. She is also the more lively of the two, being able to go from bottom to top of stairs in 2 seconds flat!! Mable, on the other hand, is quite content to find a nice comfy place to lie and sleep all day.

What a nice surprise this was!!!

Here we are, pics at last!

aw! cat mad here - please get John to post pics asap, I love cats, they're all so totally individual. My beloved Matisse is a menace but I couldn't be without her

can't wait to see the piccies - I have a Poppy too

Aww, what a lovely surprise. I look forward to seeing some photos of them :thumbsup2

arrrh how fantastic! Make sure you safeguard your christmas tree ;)

Oohh! Those Christmas decorations.

Went into the lounge today and Milly (18 months - no trouble) was looking quizzically at the Christmas tree. I then saw movement. Oliver (5 months and lucky if he will make 6) was IN the Christmas Tree, halfway up, resting in the branches. A lot of careful and gentle coaxing was needed to get him out. :earseek:

Ah how lovely! Our cat came from a rescue centre and she was so timid. Now she rules the roost and is more than happy and content :goodvibes She is far too idle to bother with the christmas tree though

they are so cute Laura and look very content in your home

What lovely cats :sunny:

Awww they are so cute!!! :cloud9:

My Kitten Bailey is about 5 months old and obsessed with trying to sit in our christmas tree there is also a bauble missing :confused3 But I wouldn't be without him!!!

Your Kitties are lovely. The First Cat's Eyes look so cool! :goodvibes It's like the cat is seeing into the future or something!! :teeth:

Very beautifull Laura, and well done John on the birthday gift :thumbsup2
