Just checking out the weather channel on line and they have another hurricane set to foolow up Frances by the name of Ivan.

Ivan is much farther south than Frances -- closer to the northern shores of South America.

Oh boy I hope you are right. We leave in.....yikes.....8 sleeps. I guess we better be prepared to drive just in case our flight is cancelled. Fingers, toes and just about everything else is crossed. :)

I hope everyone faired OK during Frances.

Our friends who are Wildneress Lodge are doing fine. We've spoken with them several times, and they are in good spirits! :) The CMs at WL have taken very good care of them, and Minnie & Mickey have put in numerous appearances, much to the delight of their 7yr. old DD. :)

They are still planning on taking the shortened Sept. 6th (used to be 4th) cruise.

I'm hoping (praying?) that Ivan doesn't mess up their return home.

He is looking more terrible by the hour! :(

I really hope there is an end in sight for these poor people. One is enough, but 3 so far:mad:

Somone was just reporting Ivan is supposed to be near FLA by Friday.

Don't say that!!!! Or at least, use a teeny, tiny font!

I read somewhere that Governor Jeb said there was a $5 fine for mentioning Ivan's name!!! :smooth:

Ivan does indeed look extremely menacing....:(

That is so terrible that Florida is getting hit so many times in such a short matter of time.. my prayers go out to them... This is unheard of, I was thinking of going there around now originally.. SO happy that I picked January instead.. ((hugs)) to our fellow disers who are planning on going there now and those people who live there.

:grouphug: :grouphug:

We just got back late last night (thank goodness considering the airport had been closed since Friday) and survived Frances. Disney was wonderful and we felt totally safe there. When so many others power was out, Disney's flickered maybe twice. It was sad to see the devastation that Charley and Frances has created. Heres hoping that Ivan stays south and weakens. It was amazing how often the hurricane changed over the course of even a day or so. Frances went from a cat. 4 to a cat. 1 then a tropical storm. Don't worry if you are heading to Florida next weekend... you are far safer in Disney - they take so many precautions. They even sent in 6 characters to entertain the kids while we were stuck at the resort.

Fingers crossed Ivan stays away!!

We just got back also - drove from Pop Century to Kitchener - left Monday at 10 am - tried to check out on Friday morning (a day earlier than planned )but were advised against doing so as we were told we wouldn't find gas and that the roads were jammed with people evacuating. We ended up staying for 3 more nights at the advice of 3 CM's who spoke with us for 1/2 hr trying to get us to change our minds about leaving on Friday.

As far as the resort during the peak of the hurricane, we felt very safe. I don't think I have ever watched that many Disney movies in 24 hours before. We were advised when we could leave our rooms and were updated continually through the voice message system. We never lost power. There was some debris in the pool and around the resort - a few small trees down but nothing terrible. We saw more damage on I-4, the Turnpike and I-75.
In the future, I would hesitate to travel to the area if there is a hurricane on the way.

So glad to hear that you survived Hurricane Frances...it is awful to see all the devastation that is leaves behind.....We were there for Hurricane Charley and that was bad enough for me.....I will pray that Ivan doesn't make land...especially in Florida, they have had enough .....

Welcome back and glad to hear you are all safe.

We are heading to POP soon and hope the airport will be up and running by the time we get there. It sounds like Disney has been wonderful during both Charley and Frances. Another benifit of staying on site.....

Lets hope Ivan goes away the people of Florida have been through enough.

Well the current NOAA track puts it off the coast of FLA by Tampa on Sunday about 2 in the afternoon. At that time it looks like it could be a Cat 5 Hurricane and hit land in a similar pattern to Charley good luck anyone heading to WDW next week.

my geography is not that great but isn't the tip of where the last H is right where orlando is?

 my heart goes out to them!!!
