is there a way to turn this option off? In the last two weeks my DS has spent over $50 on in App purchases. He doesn't have the iTunes password which is why he thinks it's okay and it's driving me crazy and costing me waaaay too much money.

Yes. In the settings "app" you can disable in-app purchases. It is bit different on each device (I have a 2nd and a 5th gen iPod Touch and the settings look a bit different). Hope that helps!!

Under "General", once you go into settings.

It sounds like you also need to check your password settings, or he does know the password, bc it is required for in app purchases under original settings. Under restrictions where in app purchases is, check that password is set to immediately. Also, make sure the restrictions pass code is also something he doesn't know obviously :)

Thanks for the help.

I know he doesn't have the iTunes password as he just asked me for it to buy something the other day. He does have a new device so I'll have to go in when I get home from work and change the settings.

If he doesn't have the password how is he purchasing apps? When I purchase apps my phone always asks me for the password.

You can go in to settings and stop in-app purchases. It's under "general" I believe.

He definitely doesn't have the password. I enter it for him when he wants to buy something. And it's not the apps themselves he's purchasing that's costing so much but something called an "in-app purchase" according to the receipts. One was for a bundle of gold inside an app called "Doomsday". It cost $4.99!! He bought this three times in two days. :faint: He told me it didn't ask him for a password so he assumed it was okay. :scared1: ETA- the game itself was a free download and according to him the app didn't tell him that the purchase was going to cost money.

Check your settings to disable all in-app purchases. Sometimes it's set so that your password is still valid 15 minutes after you've entered it.

There used to be a thread about this where someone's kid racked up hundreds of $$ and Apple was able to extend a onetime courtesy of refunding those fees.
