About a month ago I upgraded to Itunes 9 and even since then I am not able to sync my IPOD to Itunes. I plug it into the computer and it briefly says it is connected, but then says it is ejecting a few seconds later. There have been a few times that it will stay conected for awhile and show up in Windows My Computer, but then will disconnect. I have tried using a different cord, different ports and a different computer (with Itunes 9) and the same thing. It does not give me the option to manually sync either

I tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, same issue. I tried unstalling Itunes 9 and reinstalling Itunes 8, but if I go to open Itunes it tells me I can't open it because the files are from a higher version of Itunes.

There also seems to be no problems with it charging the IPOD.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can either get my IPOD to sync in Itunes 9 or get it so my files will work with Itunes 8 again? or is there another way I can sync to my IPOD without having to open Itunes and just transfer from the folders on my computer?

Since I installed 9, my iTunes is very slow opening and loading on my desktop.

Did you try gong though "File" (top left of screen) and syncing it that way?

Pretty sure you can't go backwards to 8, but I'll give you a bump so one of the experts here can help solve your problem.:)

I did try going to file and syncing.

I did a little more reseach online and from what it seems it is an issue with version 9 of Itunes and the IPOD classic. Apparently Apple is aware of the issue....but it doesn't look like there is a fix.

Great. Never fails, you do any kind of upgrade and it makes things worse. :sad2:

ETA- so wait- now you can never get any tunes to go to your iPOD? Now what!!!?

As of right now if I add any new songs to my Itunes account I cannot add them to my IPOD until this issue is fixed (unless of course someone knows of another way to add them). All my existing music before I upgraded is still on My IPOD.

From what it seems my problem isn't as bad as some others. It looks like some people have had all their stuff erased from their IPOD and can't get their stuff back on it and others have had theirs crash all together. The problem seems to be mainly with the Classic.

okay - so for those of us who have the Classic, but have not upgraded to Itunes 9 - we should avoid that?

I haven't upgraded in a long time because I didn't want one of the programs that came with it.

Now I see I am offered 9.0.2 - is that the fix for the problem so many of you are having?

Have you tried doing a system restore (assuming you're on a Windows-based machine) to a point before you upgraded to iTunes 9? I don't know if it'd help, but if I were having the same issues, that'd probably be my next step. It can't hurt, at any rate. :)

No the 9.0.2 is causing the problem. I would not upgrade, you may not have the same problem, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

I have tried that and it didn't work :sad1:

There is a way to get back to itunes 8. You need to do a system restore back to a date before you did the upgrade. You'll lose all changes to your system that you've done, i.e. installed any other new software. Any documents should be unaffected.

I can't do the restore back to the date that I installed it. I had a virus a few months back and when it was removed it disabled my ability to do a restore. I didn't figure that out until the other night when I tried to do it. I turned the ability back on, but now won't let me restore back to a date past that date I turned it back on.
