I rented a movie thru itunes last night & went to watch it - but it won't play. It just shows a blank black screen with the contols (play, etc) on there. NOthing else.
Is there something else I needed to do to make it play?

If I can't get it to play on that computer then how can I get it onto another computer or my itouch?

My time runs out in a couple of hours - even though its never played (UGH!)

E-mail I tunes right away they will put it back in your queue to download again. This happened to me once, rentals for some reason don't work on my Netbook. They put it in my queue again, and it downloaded on my other computer and worked just fine. Word of advice if you do this though, make sure next time you open your Itunes it is on the computer you want to watch the movie on, as it will download as soon as you open it. I wanted to watch it on my Macbook, but opened Itunes on my desktop first and it downloaded right away on there.

Thanks for your tip - I never did get it to open on my computer - but I was able to get it to open on my itouch - so I spent 2hours with headphones & a tiny screen watching it - just barely made it before the time ran out! :thumbsup2

Still don't know why it wouldn't open though:confused3

If you didn't get an error that's interesting.

Most problems with online downloads are codec issues. A codec is software capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal. You need to decode a video download using the same codec as it was encoded with by the provider. Generally, online downloading sites have a "check to see if your system is capable" feature, which ensures that you have the proper codecs for their service, and if you don't, generally they'll provide them to you without you even knowing about it. Sometimes codecs do get corrupted though, and so you'd need to re-run the check to fix that. Sometimes, though, the check doesn't detect the corruption (but of course it is there) so you end up with a much more difficult-to-fix problem. (You typically have to figure out, somehow, which codec was causing the problem, find a way to manually fix it...)

Best of luck.
