I rode Stitch's Great Escape for the first time in years today, and it's time for this attraction to be gutted. I feel like the whole setup of the circular theater around the big tube should be gutted as well and a knew ride concept should be added.

I know SM and the TTA had some changes around 2009. But I feel like Tomorrowland can add two more solid attractions in The Stitch's Great Escape building, and the area where the old "Galaxy of the Stars" theatre use to be.

I regret riding it. I want that part of my life back. However, you just never know until you do it. That's what DH and I said about having a wedding instead of eloping:rolleyes: Should have eloped and thrown a big party:)

On our trip from last week I got to pick one guilty pleasure / lame attraction per park. I selected Stitch for MK despite protests from rest of family who dislike this attraction. Surprisingly, we all thought it was better than we remembered. Not saying it was great by any means and I agree Stitch and other tomorrowland rides need major overhaul, but our very low expectations were somewhat exceeded (maybe sort of).

Not looking to get flamed here, but why does everyone hate this ride? I rode it once 6 years ago, and enjoyed it. I know I'm in the utter minority (quite possibly by myself). I do love Stitch though, and enjoyed the previous Alien Encounter attraction before Stitch. Am I missing something?

I just feel like the character Stitch himself has gotten less popular over the years. I just think the building is a prime area to host a better attraction. I will say though that I believe imagineers did the best they could with the ride layout Alien Encounter left behind. I think the whole building should be reconstructed with a whole new theme and ride structure

It's pointless. Storyline is lame, sit in chairs that don't move and have a harness come over your shoulders/chest just to have Stitch bounce on them for a few seconds. You're sitting there waiting for the ride to start, then you realize it's over.

They really could do something a lot better with the space

The previous attraction had a rel plot in that the bad guy alien escapes from the transport system and it is supposed to scare you that a real criminal is on the loose.
Stitch being a cuddly Muppet like cute creature, there's no fear when Stitch escapes as he is not a bad guy. It's only scary if a VILLAIN escapes. So the current version has no point in that good guys escaping is not scary.

I don't think Stitch's Great Escape is supposed to be scary though.

Loved Alien version..really disliked Stitch. I was a kid too with alien and I guess I enjoyed a bit of that fear. With Stitch the burp was just gross IMO and it lacks connection anymore. It was one of those things that was REAL popular, then for the most part lost people's interest. For now Disney won't spend a dime to do anything with it. It didn't cost them much to retheme it since they kept so much of the guts of the original alien version. Maybe when all the expansions at the other parks have settled in and Shanghai has had a bit of time we could see something different (and I'm talking when all is settled it that would be like mid-2020s or later). But ya know who knows.

Why, oh why is this still open? Doesn't Disney read these boards and see the lack of love for Stitch?

You have not ridden it in 6 years because?

Agreed. This attraction needs to go. Alien Encounter was much better but something new needs to come.

I can remember the last time I was on this attraction when it was Alien Encounter..... There was a group of college aged guys at the other side of the theatre..... One of them was sooo freaked out when the lights came up at the end of the show, he couldn't run out of there fast enough. It was hilarious and all his buddies were laughing at him. One great memory for me.

I rode Alien around 10+ years ago. I was young and it scared the daylights out of me. I rode Stitch once and it was a complete waste of time. I agree - they can fit something cool in that space.

I love Buzz but it's very similar to Toy Story Midway Mania. I'd almost like to see them ditch Buzz and move it to Toy Story Land. Then, make that entire area leading to Tomorrowland Monsters Inc. themed. Have the old Buzz be a door-style ride and have the old stitch be either a show or a smaller ride.

I really wish I had the opportunity to experience that attraction!

We've only been to WDW once (5 years ago), and I can't recall the Stitch attraction being all that bad. My older DD loved Stitch back then, and she still loves Stitch today. Maybe we need to try it again on our upcoming trip, just to see how bad it really is.

Go Dawgs (had to get that out of the way). I agree, it needs to go. I liked Alien well enough although we didn't do that every time. The harness that goes over your shoulders would drop down too tight on me, even when I tried to cheat it and kind of sit up taller in my seat when it came down. I love the slobbering on your shoulder and breathing and crunching of bones in your ear. Not crazy about Buzz either, I can't ever tell what the heck I'm actually hitting so wouldn't hurt my feelings if both of them disappeared and something else took their places.
